Looks like we're going into development mode for key defenders. Smit, Howe Cochrane. I don't mind it but we will be thin down back in the VFL

Probably why we shouldn't concern ourselves too much with the win/loss ratio for VFL matches.

Develop our AFL listed players in their proper positions & for them to learn our AFL game plan & unearth some gems from our Development Squad should be our main priorities.

Interstate you can understand if it was for more money -- But another AFL aligned club? Bizarre.
Unless he saw our draftees and thought a midfield spot would be hard to get next season

Considering it's Saints they probably are paying him more money ..

If they didn't want to interrupt the footy season... then they could have started it in Oct and had some of our aflw games relocated. But how is it gonna be different next October.. And they have to go through basically another aflw/VFL/VFLW with the same issues.

Improvements to the surface of Victoria Park have been postponed so has not to interrupt the 2026 football season for current tenants—the Fitzroy Junior Football Club and the Renegades League.

Works on the Victoria Park surface are expected to commence October 2026.

If they didn't want to interrupt the footy season... then they could have started it in Oct and had some of our aflw games relocated. But how is it gonna be different next October.. And they have to go through basically another aflw/VFL/VFLW with the same issues.

I'm going to guess that they were hoping to start in October and then missed the deadline, and now need to postpone for a full year.
