Ive noticed that on the Carlton boards, WC have been listed as a suitor for Keeley Skepper, which I am not sure how I feel about. Forward, which we need, but not big numbers.

Thinking may be, that given possible delistings, we are going to be very light on for forwards, especially forwards who arent also needed as midfielders, it may not be prudent to just rely on relying on the draft for young forwards. We probably need several, so fortifying with a known product first, even if not top notch, may be necessary.

Final standings....

Pwoar, the age profile of our top 10 folks. This is exciting shit

Georgie finishing fourth. Absolute ballsup that she's in Europe right now and almost podiuming. Also Dalgleish finished 11th. Getting sick and missing two games cost her a top 10 spot. As with Painter losing two games through concussion could've placed her higher.

Future is massive, but we need some experienced players for the now to help bringing the youngins along.

What’s their strategy: With one of the best young lists in the competition, the Eagles are targeting experience and positional needs to surge up the ladder. West Coast has expressed interest in several players, now it’s over to list manager Jordan Loxley to see what trades the Eagles can pull off.

List holes and will they fill them: West Coast would love another big-bodied midfielder to support young superstar Ella Roberts after losing Courtney Rowley to an ACL. The Eagles are also targeting speed and outside run after losing vice-captain Mikayla Western to an ACL very late in the season.

Trade whispers: The Eagles will keep tabs on Eden Zanker even though the Dockers are favourites to land the key forward. West Coast has also registered an interest in Carlton forward Keeley Skepper, Adelaide defender Zoe Prowse, Brisbane youngster Sophie Peters and fringe North Melbourne midfielder Ella Slocombe who is keen to return home to WA.

Definitely gone: Dana Hooker, Jess Hosking (retired)
Could be going: Defender Annabel Johnson is out of contract and unlikely to get a new deal given her injury history. Injury replacement signing Courtney Lindgren is also on the chopping block.
Lock them in: The Eagles have plenty of irons in the fire.

The format really pushes the final tally together. Ella was absolutely the best player at the club by a country mile, let’s be honest. Like she’s not 8% better than the next best player on the list.

Worth noting that Rowley was 7th in the count from round 1-8, and presumably she had very few votes in round 8 when she did her ACL very early in the match, so if she hadn't been injured she probably would've been roughly equal with Lakfer and Cleaver after that round. Just shows her importance to the club and what a big loss she was, because she was well in contention to finish on the podium.

Was Drennan in attendance? Still very curious about what transpired the last month or so.

Rowley was actually in 3rd prior to the round 8 game where she got injured.

Roberts 80
Thomas 76
Rowley 67
Cleaver 66
Lakfer 64
Britton 64
Rentsch 63

Rowley had a great season prior to her injury and after which her game impact was really missed.

Her impact is twofold, firstly the work that she does her self as she is a player that brings others around her into the game and links up well and secondly the dynamics of the midfield rotations that frees up other key midfielders ( Lewis, Roberts, Painter to name a few ) to exploit other roles.

Courtney is an integral part of our midfield mix and her injury will drag into next season, which is not good.

The team plays much better and is more productive when she is in it.

Some trade news, Prowse has nominated Essendon for some reason.

Taylor Smith from Brisbane has nominated Sydney.
Yeah just saw this, guess that dream is dead. Will be interesting to see what the Dons cough up for her.... I think we're a good chance to get Ella Slocombe for a good deal though, article indicating she's actively looking for a move home is encouraging also

All the teams around us AND above us (North) looking to get better with player acquisitions. But it's ok, we got interest in a medium sized forward from Carlton when we're down two speedy ball carriers with ACL's next year :thumbsupemoji:

Yep, it's a good thing we're gaining 6 out of the top 10 draft picks this draft and an assistance package to help even up the ledger... Oh wait

Dumb article. Experience? Prowse is the most experienced, had four years only. Skepper's had about two years, ditto Peters, ditto Slocombe but she's only played one game.

We're doing the Moneyball strategy - looking for bargains, players who were worth a high pick a few years ago but have slipped a long way through no fault of their own. I reckon the reason we didn't get Prowse or Zanker is because other clubs are throwing much higher draft picks at them, while we want to keep top picks unspent unless someone really great is available.

Big bodied midfielder? We've already got two, but Rentsch and Painter are playing back and forward respectively. So we don't actually want a big bodied midfielder, we want someone like Prowse who can help release Rentsch into the midfield, or a forward who can help Painter do the same.

I like what I'm seeing. A lot of clubs are dumb, they'll spend top picks for older players who'll help in the short term, but leave them struggling in a few years time because they missed out on great young talent to do it. We're going after players with big upsides, looking to create value rather than just harvesting existing value.
