He could have simply denied denied denied and with basically no evidence besides “he said she said” and potetially with his partners testimony to support him it could have given the jury reasonable doubt with no solid evidence against him. His partner could have even offered an alibi.

Unfortunately for him he ruined that when he tried to doctor evidence.

At this stage there is no continued history of social manipulation, disregard for emotional needs or a desire to limit, restrain or hurt individuals on a consistent basis.

Psychopathy is (in part) determined by repeated behaviour.

The victims impact statement is so harrowing. I don't know how you could read it and think he wasn't guilty. It would have been the brave thing for the parents to listen to it but I can respect that it's complicated. Their son is telling them he didn't do it and they so badly want to believe. They'll probably come to the realisation in time.

Silvagni doesn't have to claim anyone r*ped her - he can simply state that he did not rape her - ie the events she is describing did not take place.

The prosecution has to prove it happened and that the accused is guilty.
