Maybe a first round pick is possible?

Haha
First rounder?
I'll concede he may fetch a low 20's pick but can't imagine anyone giving away a first rounder!!
I certainly wouldn't want him at Essendon.......too old now.

If any of you believe that a guy with 3 years left in his career is worth a first round pick..........you've become too attached!
But if someone is silly enough, then all power to you.
He might help a team like Collingwood who are pretty close it would seem, but noone else will trade a first rounder.........guaranteed!

IMO he would only be bait to try attract a potential KP defender if they have one in mind. There are some clubs that could do with really do with a hard at it mature leader in the midfield!
Of the possible 5 improvers (WB, Bris, Freo, Ess, Melb) they either already have slow centre square players (Ess, Melb, Freo), depth (Bris) or a different game plan (WBD, who already have West & Cross as extractors and base their game on foot skills).
.
Jude will be 28 in March next year, therefore any team that took him would need to consider themselves a contender within the next 2 years.
I can't see any of last years top 6 (Geel, Port, WCE, NM, Haw,Coll), being interested as each either has similar players and/or good depth.

That leaves Carlton & Richmond (too old), Adelaide (obviously not interested) or St Kilda.
And Ross Lyon, much as he would probably like inside grunt, would be aware of Jude's decline.
Now if my maths is correct, that's all other 15 clubs and I can't see any of them offering anything substantial for Jude.
the dees need a midfielder with serious courage and the right attitude to help the likes of nathan jones
I would have thought that Mclean, Sylvia & Jones were all relatively similar players to Jude. Plus they have McDonald & Moloney on their books who are also centre square players and Bate won a Morrish Medal playing primarily on ball.
I can't see Melbourne having much interest in Jude, particularly with a new coach, who's unlikely to want to be seen trading in a 28yo, whilst putting Johnstone on the trading block.
And please neither of the Clarkes, they spend almost as much time in the treatment room as Doyle.
I also see no reason for another running HBF/wing in McMahon, we now have Tadhg, Malceski, Mattner Barlow & Laidlaw all capable of filling that role.
Would compliment our midfield beautifully - as he could play that tagging role we were after when we chased Baker a few weeks back.
Agreed. Bolton is definitely more a 'hard-ball get' player rather than a tagger. When he sees a loose ball, he'll go in hard and he'll tackle anyone or anything that's gets in his way - most of his tackles are from stoppages rather than general play. On his day, he'll win a lot of hard balls, make a tackles, but not stop his direct opponent getting the footy.Kirk tags. McVeigh tags. Crouch tags. Ablett tags. Mathews tags. Dempster tags. Some of them do other things as well. Some of them (notably Kirk) do those other things very very well. But they all tag.
Bolton does not tag. Never quite understood how he's escaped the tagging school but he never ever seems to be asked to play a tagging role.
