Autopsy Autopsy vs Essendon - good grief

Goes into the 'inhumanely ugly wins' file alongside beating the West Coast WAFL top-ups by a similar margin in 2022 - sure, ultimately it goes into the right columns on the ladder, but it really doesn't bode well.

Three of the four quarters were utterly turgid from both sides. I think we actually looked like we were playing something approaching a system in the third - we might've actually pulled off some overlap run at one point, and not just gone to even numbers long down the line? But basically, we won tonight because Essendon are somehow plumbing worse depths than us at the moment. Most of that falls on the team as a whole, but the Simpkin and Zurhaar glory shots in Q4 (when all we needed was some level-headed play to seal the match) were pretty telling in terms of how far off a winning club mentality we are. CCJ in went exactly as most expected it to.

Positives individually - FOS brilliant, Trembath's forward form is helping us plenty, LDU has lifted his baseline from previous seasons a bit, Pink doing the actual KPD stuff well. But not a lot to praise collectively; so far, Round 1 looks like the anomaly of the three, and that's a worry.

You can't be 36 points up and just quit for a quarter. That's what they did, they turned off and it seemed as though that must have been the instruction because they all did.

So stupid, so awful, too scared to put the foot down.
That's what annoyed me. Unfortunately it's going to continue while we have players like Simpkin, McDonald, and a Backline that we have.

FOS going to be unreal. Love him.

Reckon he’s the sort of guy who thrives on having a job. Could see it tonight and the Port game. Not like a negating only role, but tell him to beat someone at every contest and he’s in his element. Need to find him someone to beat every week and not just ask him to run alone.

As bad as this game looked from the perspective of skill and ability, it was all but ruined by some absolutely diabolical, atrocious, blatantly incorrect and disturbingly lop-sided umpiring.

Now, I might have a bit of a jibe at umps now and again - fair to say - but tonight there were some really obvious missed 50m penalties that honestly, could not have been missed by any umpire doing their job properly (* tackle of Parker when he'd marked and at least 5 "stand" infringements). The inconsistency of HTB was outrageous. The number of unpenalised throws (plenty from our side too) were appalling. Missed high contact. Cripes, I could go on.

If the umpires were on the ball, that free and 50 to * from our goal square would have been reversed and X would have been given a shot from the square for the elbow or fore-arm he took to the nose. The subsequent crap that occurred where that feral mcgrath got snot-wiped wouldn't have happened (in fact, if the umpires had stepped in to take control when the scum captain was mouthing off after the X goal then again, the wiping of mucous would never have occurred.

The game was bad but it was made worse by the absolute abomination of an effort to officiate by an incompetent pack of maggots.

And it was extremely noticeable in Q4 when they were falling over themselves to find anything at all to give a free to * including a player slipping onto his arse.

The standard of umpiring absolutely stinks. It's never been worse.

X wiped sweat from his nose on the *scums Plastic Captain’s face - zero blood present.

So **** off Jay ‘talking helium balloon’ Clark you ambulance chasing POS..

Go and report your clickbait ass on the potential $5 fuel at your local Caltex or BP..
That's gold Shermanator. You reckon he could suffer from a heredity condition called Granulosis Rubra Nasi? Excessive sweating from the nose.

Big X out gives everyone else a chance to pick up the slack and do their part for the team
Real pity that Goad isnt avaliable. Would be great to see how he goes with the new rules. We know what we are going to get with CCJ, and that isnt much. Darling in next week with Tremmers pinch hitting?

Did that CCJ game actually happen or did I dream that he was out there?
T'wasn't a dream Jer. More of a hallucination after a bad trip. I mean, he was out there but like Schrodinger's cat, he also wasn't (apart from that handball which proves the point).

Who is this Clark yes man on Foxtel what an absolute knob . Does he just come on each week and try and suspend players .
I know...it pisses me off each week. It always seems that the media is what sets the record or result of the MRP...similar to what people talk about with juries and not muddying the process.

Realistically this should just be a fine. It has not happened for 18 years..everyone can see it was a spur of the moment crap after they were trying to call him out being a faker/stager and he's had his nose knocked up from some clown pushing him in to someone. Fine and move on, these clowns in the media try and run everything & no doubt the four eyed git will be doing the same when he chirps up too

I'm not as down on the ugly win as others, but I am infuriated that we played the way we did against an admirable (IMO) West Coast team last week and delivered:

  • Zero change in the areas of the game / players that lost us the game last week
  • Brought in Corr (I think, saw him once) who has done nothing for over a year
  • Brought in CCJ who has done less than Corr in over a year
  • Retained players in Simpkin who actually just are taking the piss
  • Played Zurhaar who was either injured or is, in fact, just that shit now
  • Powell was really, really poor and does not remotely run hard enough or attack defensively enough to be that poor with ball in hand
  • What did Luke McDonald do to justify the faith that is being show in him? Very little IMO.
  • Pink is a ****ing amazingly patient bloke because he is expected to be perfect with arguably some of the least physical attributes in the backline whilst others get a free pass.
  • I look forward to people potting Daniel who looked like one of the few blokes besides Parker that didn't shit his pants every time he had the ball in hand.

Nothing we did at selection did anything to make the win easier, in fact I'd argue we actually made it harder to win and full credit to the handful of decent blokes out there that ground it out. Incredibly frustrated with the selection. We cannot, simply cannot, have so few options so early in the season with an almost full list.

Time for change.
We don’t have any depth that’s why there is no pressure on spots
