Final scoreboard flatters Brisbane. We were in that game the entire way, but were limited by the following issues;

• Missing Xerri, FOS, Pink
• Deplorable skills at key moments
• Way too many missed opoprtunities when kicking for goal
• Atrocious umpiring

We also had way too many passengers today who had negligible impacts, such as Duursma, Banch, Spargo, CCJ, and Powell.

I suspect if people had been asked this morning "would you be okay with a 3~ goal loss", most would have quietly taken that whether they admit it or not.

The frustration stems from the fact we could have won that game if we'd been cleaner and less wasteful. And maybe if the umps weren't maggot cheaters.

Good players today worth acknowledging are Trembath, Parker, Sheezel, LDU, Simpkin, and Blamires.

At least we got some beautiful Trembath highlights though.

The fact Leigh fisher used to umpire games with his relative playing tells you all you need to know about the state of the sport.


Good effort against a team with extra players. Weren’t clean for long enough and we have a few passengers on a very average ground.

Umpires got what they wanted. Excellent fight from the boys albeit some poor mistakes being made. I am genuinely taking that as 4 points in my brain because of how robbed I feel.

Unfortunately teams that are near the top get the rub of the green with the umps while teams down the bottom never get the benefit of the doubt with free kicks.

Genuinely could have won that with slightly more polish - the best team in the comp barely fell over the line against us with some help.

Effort and intensity was and has been awesome all year - I think after 5 games we can finally say when you go watch North Melbourne, you'll watch something resembling a football team and get a contest.

We played a lot of stupid football. Trying to pick the eyes of disposals when they were not on.

We are playing a ruckman down with CCJ.

Spargo is no where near it.

However.

I never expected us to win this game. I wanted to see us pressure and fight it out.

There is a style that is repeatable in what we did do today. It is predicated on pressure and it will get better as our core continue to develop.

It is disappointing but expected.
