Yeah I also think that Vardy had a better year than Yeo :drunk:

Mate, Yeo has done nothing all year. He averaged more disposals this year but was non existent in the goal column and averaged less tackles than last year.
Vardy stepped up with no NicNat and actually plays a role when not in a ruck contest.

That tends to happen when you spend most of the season in the backline.

If this footage doesn't bring you seven minutes of bliss, why do you bother being an Eagles fan?

I think Vardy makes the list due to the fact he was a forward for the cats. He was used as a ruckman all season and done well, just shows to talent this bloke has.

Let's start with the players who didn't get a game this year...

I'm quite happy for someone to throw in a comment or two about these guys as I haven't followed the WAFL all year, so I'm "afl.coming" it and just looking at the stats. I have only included notable Rookies.

Tom Lamb
Played WAFL all season (18 games) without staring enough to crack the Eagles team. Finds himself in an awkward spot behind Kennedy, Darling and the resting ruckman. His best game appears to be a 30 possession game in Round 15.

Has now only played 1 game in 3 seasons. Might be saved by the amount of retirees we've had this season.

Daniel Venables
Our first round pick from last year never got a chance to play his first AFL game. After starting the season injured he then strung 8 consecutive games together between Round 3 and 11 in the WAFL before being shut down for the season. The Big Footy crowd hope this guy can be elite.

Simon Tunbridge
Couldn't get his body right all season and now has only played 10 games in 5 seasons on our list. Has shown potential at times.

Josh Rotham
After a pretty solid start to the WAFL season struggled as the season progressed. He was ultimately dropped to the reserves at the end of the season in the hope of finding more of the ball.

Matthew Allen
Injury ruined his WAFL season. He only managed to put together 4 games (2 of which were in the reserves).

Willie Rioli
This guy is going to save us according to big footy. Has shown enough potential to even be suggested to be introduced as a first gamer in a Final. His body didn't allow his to debut throughout the season, but is expected to be pushing hard next year. Hopefully he can get his body right for the start of pre-season.

Jake Waterman
Speaking of not getting their body right... Missed most of the WAFL season with an injury. Fortunately was able to play the last 7 games of the year to show signs that he might be ready for a good preseason.

And finally....

Nic Nat
You may have noticed throughout the course of the season that he wasn't playing. Hopefully his critics saw this season just how important he is to our success. Our on-ball division got crushed this season despite adding an all time (even if old) great in Mitchell. Our 2018 chances rest firmly in his ability to return to near his best.

Only player to play this year that didn't pick up a vote. Even though he started this season injured he would have set this year as a big year to prove that he could lead a ruck without Nic Nat. After many set backs early in the season, his comeback lasted 1 game. Round 16 against Port Adelaide. Did manage to pick up 12 possessions, which is pretty solid for a ruckman, but not solid enough to pick up a vote.

What's better than picking up 0 votes? Picking up 2 votes in 4 games! Both votes came in his 10 possession game against Port in Round 7.

A popular player among the people on Big Footy, Luke managed to play 6 games throughout the season. The first time he got close to getting a gig, he got injured in the WAFL, before finally getting to debut in Round 19. Held onto his spot until the SF where he was dropped for Wellingham.

Showed some good signs, but never really starred in any games. He picked up 4 total votes in the 6 games. All single votes.

His best game came in his debut against the Lions were he had 16 possessions and a goal.

One of our young guys that needs to step up in the coming season. Played solid in his 4 games this year, but didn't make a huge difference when out there. His best game was his debut against the Cats in Round 13 where he picked up 8 touches and had 5 tackles.

He finished a couple of spots higher than he probably deserved thanks to Godfather32 who gave him 5 votes for that game (he only received 7 total). See it pays to have a sponsor!

In and out of the team all season, which is frustrating as he is one of only a few Eagles that likes to take the game on. While he doesn't play a position where he is likely to be a big vote getter, he would have been disappointed with his season. He is contracted for 2 more years, but will probably be depth behind EMac, Barrass and McGovern.

His best game came in Round 17 against Freo where he had 14 possessions and 4 marks.

Giles started the season as a backup to our backup's backup in the ruck department. Due to the form of Vardy and Petrie, Giles never really got a shot at much game time and played his last game for the season in Round 7.

His best game came in Round 4 against Sydney where he had 7 possessions to go with 36 hit outs and 4 tackles.

He retired at the end of the season.

Our last 2006 premiership player struggled with injury through his final season. He put up some pretty solid performances while out there.

His best game came against the Dockers in Round 6 where he had 22 possessions and 10 marks.

Thank you for your service Mr Butler!
