This was my post Grand Final prediction ,but I'm standing by it.
Coll still have a lot of players not in full training in late Jan. Including Grundy whose yet to get out of rehab group after surgery. It’s not great for a team to have a long season followed by a huge group of post season opps and then try to beat teams that have been training for months longer. I don’t like Collingwood chances in 2019. They are going to be an Adelaide/Fremantle clone and fall down the ladder dramatically.

I had read about Grundy but who else other than perpetually injured Jamie Elliott is behind?

Yet to train with the main group:
Beams
De goey
Crisp
Elliot
Reid
Wells
Greenwood
Appleby
Wills
Kelly
Broomhead
Dunn (knee surgery - mid season I reckonor later)
Howe (shoulder surgery)
Scharenberg (as above see Dunn)

On face value thats not great.

Interesting
Plus you have to take into account the fact it’s rare for teams to lose a GF and make the next one. And they start their preseason later than usual.

Collingwoods first 5 games;
Geelong
Richmond
West coast
Dogs
Lions

They could easily be 2-3 or even 1-4 (losing to Brisbane up their early)

I didnt realise they had so many in the rehab group. Be interesting to see how they bounce back from losing the Grand Final.

Are they all though? Older players very often have individual programmes and join the main group at the latter end of the off season, when tactics and new setups are generally more of a focus.

De Goey must be a worry for Pies supporters though, as Toby is for us.

Most of those players had next to no impact last year. Collingwood have a lot of depth to cover for injuries.

Lets just clear one thing; Grundy didn't have surgery. He isn't in a rehab group. He just had a bruised toe (Thank you Jordan Roughhead lol) and was only taking 2 weeks off.

Elliot is in full training. He has participated in match sims. The others are just on modified programs. Some are coming off injuries from last year. Some had surguries post season, but they'll be right. Apart from the usual suspects in Dunn/Shaz, the rest aren't injured.
Beams is in full training, just sometimes he just does a running program.

For someone who attends majority of training sessions, that list isn't totally 100% right. Crisp only began training after christmas because he had a back complaint, so he is on a running schedule now.
De Goey, just managing him I imagine. He has participated in match sims. Elliot is in full training. I imagine the others (apart from Shaz and Dunn) will start to get involved a great deal in the coming weeks.

When we match up I'd want De Goey out there, so great.Hopefully Bunts gets another shot at him, probably depends on his remedial speed off the mark work over the off season.

As for the list I get the Vic club rivalry that oftenunderpins these things.

He'll be there. I'm not worried. I guess with that bone stress from last year, they are building him up slowly.

I am curious who freos 4 wins will be in your predictor?

I think I tipped you to beat St Kilda (h), Port Adelaide (h) and Carlton (h).
You will probably win more than that but I'm not very confident about you getting many wins, especially with a poor interstate record and I think that teams that were near your ladder position in 2018 may overtake you - such as the Western Bulldogs (I changed my thoughts on them so my prediction is a bit outdated), Brisbane and St Kilda (who have a decent draw, they get to play Gold Coast twice and Carlton twice too).
And I think the loss of Neale will take some time to get adjusted to.

Which is going to be worse, the loss of Neale for Fremantle, or the loss of Mitchell for Hawthorn? Both teams have had plenty of time to prepare for a season without their prime possession getter. Both have back ups who will be able to cover that position to a degree.

In both cases, the midfields will be a bit fragile if injuries happen during the year. Unless injuries strike the midfielders, I don’t see a big drop from either team.

The difference for Freo will be their new look forward line and how long it takes to gel. If they can start the season with a run of wins, the confidence can push them well into the eight. More likely they’ll improve but be inconsistent for another year.

My ladder:

Richmond
West Coast
GWS
Collingwood
Melbourne
Hawthorn
Essendon
Adelaide
Geelong
Fremantle
Sydney
Port Adelaide
North Melbourne
Brisbane
Western Bulldogs
Gold Coast
Carlton
St. Kilda

that's not the point. ya fellow eagles mate said that fyfe has the worst kick of all he Brownlow medallists.

if fyfe was a horrible kick, he wouldn't of kicked 100 goals

Fyfe is a much better and eye catching player than Priddis, get no debate from me. You can’t judge who is a better player on goals kicked but.

Priddis had the key forwards like Lynch, Kennedy and Darling around him to kick his goals.

Fyfe has been relied upon to rest forward and kick goals because he has only really had Pavlich as a permanent key forward option until the end of 2016 or whenever Pav retired. Since than there has been no real power forward until Hogan.

You must think a lot is going to go wrong for us to finish below Gold Coast. Do you expect them to beat us in round 1? I mean we finished above them last year and they just lost their best two players.

While I don't think we will finish ahead of you in 2019, You did only finish 2 premiership points ahead of us last season, and in the only game you played us in you won by 2 points with neither Lynch nor May playing anyway. The gap is pretty minimal.
