Is this good for sport? I didn't say we need to play India all the time btw just sides that are up for a contest. This is completely and utterly pathetic and not fit for television

For all the shit India (used to) England and Pakistan cop at least they have had some wins and been competitive at times. Sri Lanka just offer f all every time they come here.

All be it rocking up once every 6 years for a scratch match and 2 tests does make it hard.

Yea but apparently some posters here take it as a personal insult if you mention these stone cold facts.... I agree, I can't understand why they don't try harder people pay money to go to these games and the lack of professionalism is hard to take. Apart from our last tour there we regularly compete with them overseas

Not saying there not trying but they are a Cricketing Nation which has won a World Cup, made finals, had major test victories against most nations, won O/seas, beaten Australia regularly, produced some superstars yet every time they come here it's like **** it...........bounce is too much which it is but they don't seem to have a strategy to adapt.

Australia regularly get thumped o/seas now and there are changes and different approaches. Sri Lanka seem to get worse and worse.

Everyone with Test status should be playing everyone with Test status on a regular basis. Yes, that means some lopsided series, but if the lesser (in our conditions at least) teams get shut out they will never compete. Its not like Sri Lanka are here every year. They haven't been here for Tests since 2012/13. That's more than long enough.

It is such a shame Marnus is such a poor batsman at present because his leg spin could be a massive point of difference in the Ashes. Would be wonderful if he could learn to concentrate because at the moment he is a specialist fielder who bowls handy leg spin but is basically a number 10 bat.

Khawaja getting a free ride in the slips there. Agree with Vaughan he should probably not be anywhere near there he looks so uncoordinated in the field

I don't mind teams playing each other regularly just asking the lower ranked teams to show some fight??? We are bog standard right now and probably only Cummins can say he's been class this season. The Sri Lankans just throw the bat at everything, no patience no wearing us down. India beat us with a good pace attack but a humble yet resilient batting lineup, even kohli was kept quiet. But they gutsed it out. The Sri Lankans have offered up nothing. This happens so often in test cricket with teams like this and does so little for test cricket going forward that we now have a ridiculously long bbl as the only format which brings cash in consistently. This is precisely why test cricket is dying

Wonder how it would play out if these two teams played a Test in Colombo next week?

This is a pretty good looking day 4 pitch (#JustSayin). I've seen pitches with more wear and scarring at the end of day 1. Wonder if a good chunk of the Manuka soil is provided by Readymix? Result pitch for these two teams. And much rather this than the horror that is the MCG drop in.

We’ve also had 103 more years than they have in test cricket, haven’t had a country in the grip of a civil war for decades up until relatively recently, and boast facilities far in excess of theirs.

That Sri Lanka have had the moments they’ve had - a World Cup win 15 years after gaining test status, another two finals appearances, a T20 World Cup win, a Test series win in England, is fairly impressive in its own way.

Can we all agree that for the purposes of assessing Ashes touring squad that the results in the first innings of this match should be discounted by 50% and those in the second innings by 100%?? Don’t get much softer Test cricket than this...

I have probably forgotten but when has Sri Lanka ever been much chop playing Test cricket in Australia? Plus this is a weakened side.
