I have to admit the mean and nasty part of me is still clutching to the dream of mercilessly teasing Josh when he comes to us in 2020 about how we won in 2019 and he missed out. I'm just that kind of guy. The only thing worse than giving up a lifetime payday for a chance at a Premiership is doing so and missing out on that Premiership to the team that was offering the cash.
Get over it!

Just kidding:
This will be Josh Kelly when he plays against North in the future. Each arrow is a comment directed at him. 50% are coming from me.

Let the circus commence.

I hope he has taken the time over the last two years to figure what he wants to do and either re-signs promptly or makes his intention clear that he is going to leave, I am sure either way he will give 100% and GWS will want to try and win a flag this year with his services. He did us no favours stringing us along for as long as he and Martin did which made it hard for us to after anyone else.

He’s had 2 years to think about it
And to go even further, when he signed for 2 years last time, most people would know( sub consciously ) what they would be doing next time around

Any day that we have freedom and the ability to think for ourselves is a good day shintemaster

Are by any chance linking the "freedom and ability to think for ourselves" with that GIF?

Let’s face it we all know exactly how this is going to play out. Josh will cover all his bases and not announce until the last possible moment. Why should he be any different than everyone else before him? If he sticks with GWS, we’ll be livid and make ugly looking GIF’s about him. If he picks us, we’ll declare him the Messiah and won’t hear a false word uttered against him. You know it’s true...

Now just how does this mid season draft work? Just out of interest if we are contenders and GWS aren't!!!

If he’s such a decent guy- he should come out now and either say I’m staying just need to work out the contract , put it off till the end of the season or be the first to come out early and say I’m leaving.
Unless he likes the attention

Nah, in his best interest to see how the season unfolds. It's all business.

Me: Finally a voice of reason.

Article:

The AFL season is still a month away but the gibberish has already begun.

This gibberish — turned into a household word by colleague Patrick Smith — relates to the commentary surrounding the future of Greater Western Sydney star Josh Kelly.

Kelly, who knocked back a long-term deal to join North Melbourne worth in excess of $10 million when he was last coming out of contract in 2017, is up for grabs again at the end of this season.

The midfielder says he’s extremely happy to stay, and confident of doing so, after the completion of his sixth year with the Giants. The club’s chief executive David Matthews also said as much when interviewed by the Herald Sun last week.

But what do we really believe? It’s all been said before. This is not the NRL. Until there is a signature on the dotted line … talk remains cheap.

Kelly’s former teammate Dylan Shiel reiterated the same confidence about wanting to remain a long-term Giant this time last year. Of course, he left and joined Essendon at the end of last season.

Brisbane’s Dayne Beams went out of his way last September to tell the Lions he wasn’t going anywhere following speculation that he would rejoin Collingwood. And we all know what happened there — he’s been back in the Pies fold since November. The former Brisbane captain was contracted for another two seasons.

Because lying is the second language of the AFL system — and we are not suggesting Kelly or his club are telling fibs — some reports are just not worth the paper they are written on. It is worthless chatter. Rubbish.

The Herald Sun reported the Giants were hopeful their vice-captain would re-sign before the opening round. “There’s a level of confidence because you can see how happy he is in Sydney enjoying the lifestyle, how popular he is with the staff and how comfortable he is as a leader of the club,” Matthews said.

Kelly said: “I do feel an ownership within this club. I love it up here in Sydney, I love the club. I care about this club, I care about my position in it, where we’re going, and I’m in a good position to spend my future here. I want this club to be successful because right now, and there’s a good chance into the future, I’m going to be a Giants player. I want to win premierships and all those little things add up to that.”

Kelly said he had no time frame on a decision. “I’ve taken my time with these decisions in the past like I did last time,” he said. “It’s not something I will rush in to.”

But let’s go back 12 months and reiterate what Shiel said about his future with GWS.

“I’m pretty happy here. I can honestly say I’m loving my time here at the Giants, obviously we’re coming off a fantastic year and I’m not looking to entertain any offers from elsewhere.

“I’ve told my manager and I’ve spoken to family and friends about it, I’m pretty happy in Sydney so I don’t think it’s going to be an issue. I’ve had conversations with my management and the club but there’s nothing really to discuss, it’s pretty straightforward from my point of view.”

In July, Shiel reinforced his desire to fulfil his contract in 2019 when he would have become a free agent at season’s end. “Unless the Giants are exploring flicking me at the end of the year, at this stage I’m pretty happy up here and I’m contracted until the end of next year … I certainly haven’t looked at any options to leave at the end of this year.”

The following month, Giants coach Leon Cameron said: “At this time of year there is always speculation on one or two players. You just ignore it.”

Beams was even more emphatic than Shiel. “I thought it was a good time to let everybody know I won’t be going anywhere,” he said. “I love the coach, the playing group, and am excited about where this footy club is headed. I have never asked for a trade away from the Lions and would like to put an end to any speculation over my playing future. I will be seeing out my contract here.”

Sound familiar?

It’s only February so what is more pressing is that there are only two more sleeps before the league’s exciting AFLX is played at Marvel Stadium by four hand-picked super teams.

This year’s upmarket version of 2018’s successful foray will be a round-robin format. The teams, captained by Eddie Betts, Nat Fyfe, Patrick Dangerfield and Jack Riewoldt, will have eight on the field and six on the bench playing 10-minute halves.

Can’t wait.

Patrick missed the opportunity to highlight the comments from all the players who had talked him into staying last time who all took big money and are playing for different clubs now.

I miss Patrick Smith giving it to KB in the mornings.

SMaturin, I've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other. I've seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen anything as ******* as this as a fantasy.

Hard to take too seriously an article that finishes with this. I genuinely have more interest in the practice match against Geelong.

Yeah I got intel recently (this week) directly from someone very close with Josh saying "he's more likely staying than going but theres a chance he comes back to melbourne."

So, pretty good Intel that he's staying. Or going.
