I think today’s line-up tells you a lot about selection going forward. I think Warner will replace Khawaja, Smith come in for Handscomb, Cummins in for Richardson and Starc for one of the spinners.
If Khawaja is dropped on current form it will be a disgrace.

Who’d have guessed the best domestic List A bat is Australia would turn out to be pretty good when the selectors actually bavk him to play more than 4 matches in a row. Khawaja getting a good crack is surely a Langer move? Lehmann would still be trying to make hacks like Lynn international quality.

Who is this Australian team? I am so not used to us winning all the time!

This is just the 3rd time that Finch has aggregated 200 across consecutive innings:
148 + 45 = 193
67 + 102 = 169
68 + 124 = 192
124 + 94 = 218
107 + 106 = 213
116 + 84* = 200

This will be just the 2nd time that Australia has won 5 consecutive matches against IND/PAK in Asia (other time was 1998/99).

We also had a period between 2003 and 2007 where we went W W W n/r W W n/r W W

both openers averaging 80+ recently

FINCH: 93, 0, 27, 116, 98*
236 + 98* = 334 / 4 = 83.50 (66.80 if he gets out)

KHAWAJA: 50, 38, 104, 91, 100, 24, 73*
407 + 73* = 480 / 6 = 80.00 (68.57 if he gets out)

What the hell was J.Richardson doing? His technique for diving was only going to result in injury... Doesn't our fielding coach teach outfield players how to dive properly?

Also whats the logic behind risking a serious injury just to save 1 run... Completely not worth it

Maxi has had a very lean run lately, and the excuse of coming in late in the batting order isn’t there for him atm either. Just lucky everyone else is batting well lately.

Warner for Stoinis?
- mandatory signature enforced by stupid BF app

If you mean a top 7 consisting of Finch, Khawaja, SMarsh, Handscomb, Warner, Maxwell, Carey, then this means you are relying upon Maxwell and Finch for a combined minimum of 10 overs. Too dangerous.
Also - would you select Steve Smith? If yes, who would you drop?

Yes the bowling would be a worry, but i feel there will be a lot of pressure and expectation that Warner should be in the side. I just don’t know who goes. Handscomb? Carey?

And I would not even consider Smith.

I'm even more curious about your desire to leave Smith out. I'm assuming match practice is not an issue, given that you're in favour of Warner. Would you change your mind about Smith if he had a couple of great innings in the World Cup practice matches?

This team is absolutely feeling itself at the moment with the Bat. If they drop Khawaja for Warner it would be the reason we don’t win the World Cup.
Absolutely. You don't drop a bloke who has scored almost 500 and is averaging over 70 over the last 7 games because someone else might do well.

Why? Stoinis bowling is shit, they don’t lose anything by not bowling him
