Who has cracked the shits for negative opinions. I’m pointing out the stupidity of it that’s not cracking it. By the way gringo he brought the parent thing. I again pointed out the stupidity of it. And I think I’m very secure with my own opinions. That’s why I will continue to say them. I find it amazing that you continue to know the workings of peoples thoughts and brain function.

I just think you should let people have their say. It's not going to change anything. It's no more or less relevant than anyone else opinion. If old mate is feeling frustrated, telling him he's a ****wit for thinking it is hardly going to bring him round to your way of thinking.

Did I say anything like that. No. I pointed out it’s stupid. Are you actually saying we can pretty much say anything negative we want and no one should reply. Are we only allowed to reply to positive stuff or is that off limits as well. As if I care if he thinks my way. Matter of fact someone saying things that I’d rather they not think anything like me

Except that it's not your kid, it's entertainment, but in Melbourne it becomes part of your identity. Poor club reflects badly on the individual and it can really piss you off when you feel like the club isn't doing things right. I don't know why people crack the shits at opinions they find negative. It suggests that you aren't secure in your own beliefs if you cut down their opinions.

We have screwed shit up for along time, hopefully the latest lot have it under control and we have a better season than the last one.
Rubbish. Come on now.

Collingwood win flag. Supporters still feral.

If your peers define you based on the club, get some new peers.

So we have to allow people to post negative stuff but we can't counter it. Is that what you're implying?

I see it opposite... I am that secure and confident in my beliefs that i can call out silliness with conviction.

Didn't old mate accusing anyone celebrating the win as accepting mediocrity and not demanding higher standards?

So it's OK for others to take a snipe at those holding a different opinion.

But they can't defend themselves.

Righteo.

That's the problem.on here... Negative posters demand their freedom of expression but squeal when people disagree with them.

Funny.

Because he didn’t quote anyone apparently he isn’t having a go at anyone. He is actually having a go at many who were happy we one.

Who said you can't counter it, people ridicule anyone who doesn't have the group think right. I have no issue with someone countering an argument, just go the opinion not the man. Anyone perceived as negative gets jumped on often.

And people who don’t have many issues with richo don’t? Come on negative or positive gets jumped on.

Just out of interest I didn’t even slightly play the man in my first reply but you still told me to basically not reply. You are confusing me

You confuse me too, its like a soup of confusion. Be nice and don't eat the guests.

What happened with Gresh?
He demonstrated that the umpires were in fact idiots. And in the process of letting him off , the person in charge should remark, "Which Idiot reported you "?

I don't know the players from Goldy but noticed he couldn't get space at all, someone was always blocking and hassling him.

Savage is very outside. He's one of our worst for contested possessions, way behind Lonie, Billings, Sinclair , Newnes.
Roberton wasn't a lot better in that regard, but had a lot of other advantages.

Just thought I would grab all the game stats across the weekend.
I think many have to temper expectations and look at how little experienced we were on the weekend. The only team less experienced were the Suns. Makes a great difference across the board.
On top of that a few seem to struggle with the idea that if we get rid of Dunstan we have to bring in another who puts the body in and under and as some have said that like for like is Armo and could you just imagine the melts if that happened!

At this stage Marshall and Brown in but who out is the tricky question.

That's his role to get outside and move the ball. Probably similar if you looked at Johanissen or Shaw.

This is good, thanks for going to the effort of collating the info and posting it up. It makes me a bit bi-polar.

- One one hand, we have the second youngest/most inexperienced list so it’s understandable that the margin yesterday wasn’t what many would have hoped

- On the other hand, we haven’t played finals in 9 years, why the hell do we have such a young inexperienced list? Carlisle, Brown and Roberton would boost our age and experience profile somewhat so partly injuries and partly terrible list management?

Fingers crossed we are better this year than many suspect. A lot of media are saying that more than ever JLT form seems to be an indicator of early season form. Hope that is right and we win our fourth in a row this week.

2. Played one quarter of pressure football second and put cue in
rack.
Massively this.

It’s like after that psychologically we thought we had the game won even though we never reflected that on the scoreboard. Dropped the effort and let them right back into it.

GC looked like rabbits in the headlight Q2.
The numbers certainly reflect this.

Our pressure index by the quarter (with the AFL average being about 180-185, 200 being elite and us having gone at 230 for the last quarter v WB) was:

1: 193
2: 189
3: 174
4: 153

Gold Coast in the last quarter went at 182.

If we're the fittest team in the competition it certainly wasn't reflected in our pressure numbers.

Don't know how one actually quantify fittest in the league so I find that statement a bit moot.
One thing I can say is that the teams intensity has not disappointed me at training, the JLT games or Round 1.

Great stats there Aussie...thx for posting.

Glaring isn't it...…..the number just got worse as the game wore on.

Lessons to be learnt there no doubt and our IT/Numbers guru would have highlighted those numbers to the coaching panel pronto.

Dude he went the men. Not me.

That's total rubbish.

Group think? Without looking at numbers, I'd the day the group think of the majority is the negative.

He was having a dig at people who were being positive by accusing them of accepting mediocrity.

Fmd.

People who are positive cop just as much, but funny enough, they don't squeal like a stuck pig when it happens.

If people don't want the discussion or to be replied to then don't ****ing post.

Just becausecpeople have a right to post opinions doesn't mean others have to agree or accept that opinion.

Ironically it's the whingers that cry foul about others playing the man more often than not.

Is this what it's come to? Just because a few people want to enjoy a win, others have the right to piss on their happiness.

If you're getting all moralistic on me at least be fair about it.

I haven't read the rest of the thread yet, so sorry if any of this has been done to death but some thoughts from todays game:

- We are screwed in the ruck. Pierce was terrible and it cost us in the middle. And considering he constantly beat Marshall throughout the preseason, it doesnt look like there is a quick fix for it. We need Billy to get fit quickly if we want to improve our competitiveness in the centre square.

- The umpiring was frustrating but we shouldn't be giving the umpires so many opportunities to pay things against us. Bloody hell Long. I would drop him next week because his ego and stupid, pointless whacks cost us a few goals.

- Stuv was clearly underdone but was the difference. It must have been a strategy to manage him in the first half of the game to make sure he was firing at the end. I found it strange that he was on the bench for a while then ran straight forward but it worked. Even Stuv at 75% is better than 90% of the rest of the list.

- Wilke stood up big time in the last quarter. Those were some good marks for someone playing their first AFL game but he seemed to composed. Definitely worth persisting with.

- Parker is a star. He will be an absolute rollercoaster every week but Im on for the ride.

- I'm torn on Battle. I thought it was his best game in defense. He started looking more comfortable reading the ball coming in and his positioning definitely improved. But I think we need him up forward. Bruce cant be the only tall up there, especially the way we constantly resort to bombing the ball in there. Our lack of height was very noticeable and something we need to fix asap.

- Is Jack Bowes from GC a tagger? He seemed to be starting on Steele at every stoppage and niggling him all game. Might explain Steele's slower first half working through that. But what a compliment to go from AFL tagger to the guy being tagged in just one preseason.

Fit Longer will win lots of hitouts.
Marshall will do a lot round the ground.

Pierce will hitout like Marshall and round the ground like Longer.

Everyone who thought Pierce was good , based on one ordinary game was wrong.

The old chestnut of 'not accepting mediocrity' and ' won't accept anything but excellence' and ' demand' this and 'demand' that is so hackneyed and cliched, it is not worth a response because the premis is so ridiculous.

We have no control, we can't change anything, and petty trantrums pretending a supporter is on a higher moral plane than the rest of us is really pathetic and delusional.

Absolute drivel in here lately.
Just in idea... Any chance you set up a selection melt thread as well as selection / match up thread?

Let these who want to melt do so to their hearts content and these that enjoy other people's insight contribute as well.

There used to be decent analysis and discussion, but it appears to have been hijacked.

Also I get the impression you've just about had enough. Hang in there please. You're a valued contributor.
