I haven’t seen any Richmond supporters deflect from the issue at all most I’ve seen asking for a harsher penalty for the offender

Deflection would be a supporter not acknowledging an incident purely because the offender is the ceo of said club

My beef is that the so-called Richmond fan is anonymous. Mr Anonymous was happy enough put a name to his racial taunts of the player, why does he then benefit of anonimity when called out and suspended. Let's see how he goes with the taunts about being a racist........ That would be a tougher and apt penalty and more would be learned.

Important part of the ban is the education requirements.

It’s a shame that we can’t have that sort of stuff at school to begin with so people are actually culturally educated to begin with, rather than the exciting “bloke wearing wig and blue coat finds empty continent and sends prison convoy there and meets resistant from local savages” narrative.

Things are slowly changing though, by the time the youth of today grow up I think we will be in a much better place. Access to alternative media sources and public broadcasters who represent differing views is much greater now, one of the benefits of social media.

I understand that you believe the behaviour is wrong and unacceptable Rodney, as we all do. But the whole idea is to give this guy his right whack and then provide a path to redemption (Course on indigenous etc). We don't grow as a society by making outcasts, in fact all you do by preventing someone from changing their views and rehabilitate is create extremists. I am not condoning the behaviour at all but I know that my life would be far worse and therefore we would live in a more hostile world had I been permanently banned/punished for incidents that happened in my youth. If this guy comes out and does something again following his time, following the course and following the apology then we should maybe start talking about permanent stuff. An instant permaban on this guy right now would fuel some pretty hateful shit I bet. And there's nothing worse than an ignorant dumb racist feeling justified and acting on their rage.

There has been a lot of talk lately on the inappropriateness of a tiny proportion of supporters, but good to see both clubs do more than just condemn the actions.

I never said to ban him permanently but online trolls banned from sites permanently.
As for the right for redemption I’m fine with that, but in some cases of crimes of the most serious nature my belief is you forego that right.

It’s a very good point rod , trolls should be held to account on a much broader basis . This guy deservedly so has copped a severe right wack, thousands more get away with “blue murder” by the minute

Ok my point is this guy copped his membership ban which is fair enough , but Eddie McChins said that stuff about Goodes on national radio and nothing happened to him and he’s a president of an afl club , is it different based scenarios on what ones standing in life is ie job etc etc , Or IMO should all be equal and McChins should have actually stepped down from his position years ago when it happened .
