Forgot what wet weather looked like over summer and so did Port I think. Rode that one out though which is great. Carlton improving finally as expected.

Kids are great like all have said. Thought it was Drew and Rozee tonight who really shone. A fully functioning and operational Tom Rockliff making a big difference too. Loving Travis in the middle as well despite his poor ball use at times.

Backline nearly shit the bed. Clurey held it together in the end but DBJ and Bonner can't kick and Jonas is a shadow of last year.

Marshall struggling after his knock last week maybe. But all the talls were pretty ordinary, including Hoff in 250.

Take the points and run with it. Onwards to Brisbane!

Apart from marshall, I literally agree with nothing else you said.

Happy with the win. Even though it wasn't pretty, I'm liking the intent unlike last year. And it's awesome to see the recruits and young kids from the last couple of years showing great signs so early in the season.

Lol, any praise of that win. Some individual good performances by the kids, Lycett, Ebert and Clurey, but even with the injuries just a shit show. Without Clurey down back we’d have lost, the rest of our Defense was arse. Jonas has been poor from JLT1 and is lucky he’s got the (Co-)Captaincy gold pass blanket to keep him safe Thursday nights. Our Defense outside Clurey was too short time and again, we need Hartlett back, but with Watts down we need Howard’s height back there even more.

Our midfield. Got plenty of the ball first, but just continually burnt it. 30 Boak possessions are more like 15 when you take into account the cost of all his turnovers. I’m sure he’ll get the praise though. 😒 SPP at least bounces back somewhat from his game last week and the three youngsters all did ok. Duursma I think the lucky one saved by Amon going out injured to let Wines back.

Our forward line. Holy hell what was that? Hoff has a shocker, so he didn’t draw attention, leaving Marshall under the pump and clearly not coping. Ryder is going to continue to frustrate until he loses the helmet and can clearly see. We need another tall up there, but I fear we’ll go further down the Hinkley rabbit hole and drop Marshall for a small and I can check out having any expectations knowing nothing has really changed.

And if Hinkley praises Carlton rather than go ‘Blight on Pittman pathetic’ on just about the whole team, then he can just shut up and let Schofield start doing the pressers now, rather then wait for the inevitable change.

Wtf.... Sorry that is all rubbish

Ugly game but got the result.

Highs:
Toots Lycett
The football smarts of our youngsters
Ebert the forward

Lows:
Injuries to two guys we lauded last week for turning their careers around.
Forward efficiency. Playing fast results in scores against Carlton and a lazy Melbourne. I’m skeptical will be able to kick a score against Hawthorn or West Coast.

Skills so poor. Kicking and handballs poor but so many times we couldn’t even pick the ball up.

After dominating in marks around the ground round 1 and jlt blues made us look silly by taking everything. We made 2nd gamer McKay and “who” Andrew Phillips look like aerial juggernauts.

Kicking off halfback was horrific.

How many times did our players kick it out of bounds?

Clurey was ace.

Blues defenders held and scragged our forwards like it was Greco-Roman wrestling and the umps allowed it. It was disgraceful the contact that was allowed on westhoff. I’ve seen drunk teenagers make less contact.

Boak and rocky with their ability to find tonnes of the ball was great but boak was back to his horrible momentum killing turnovers.

Lycett was great around the ground but to be honest his tap work is poor. Continually just taps it to no one. Watching Ryder go into the ruck and direct taps after lycett just tapping them straight down in front of him makes me realise how much we will miss Ryder. Part of our inability to clear it cleanly from stoppages is on lycett. Very good around the ground and taking it out of ruck though.

Our entire forward line was poor. They were held and scragged unbelievably though. It’s almost like Carlton knew they would get away with it.

Drew was amazing. Only clean player for most of the game. His hands, kicking , clearances , defensive work. Overhead marking . Speed away from stoppages. Kicking.

I agree with you about Boak and our forwards aside from Ebert and Motlop.

Westhoff and Marshall were pantsed and Boak burnt 50% of his touches and is largely responsible for Watts having his leg broken.

Overall though that was a positive performance. We would have folded in previous seasons but the kids plus Lycett didn’t allow it.

Good solid middle of winter win.

Oh wait it's still daylight savings.

Butters can make some questionable decisions but it's just because he is constantly looking to create stuff. I'll take the poor play-on decision that led to the McGovern tackle as long as we keep getting the great goalkicking and that effort in the fourth quarter where he laid a smother, won the ball and got a kick away in congestion.
