That’s the same premise. Wouldn’t that also be a deliberate and a shot at goal either way? He could’ve done that risked the shot at goal. But looks like he got penalized regardless

It's a quirk of the rule. He gets that over the behind line he's under enough pressure it doesn't matter he didn't try to keep it in. A few metres on like what Davis did and it's a free kick

Can't think of another team that are as strong as the Eagles in the air.
Impressive to watch, however daunting at the same time when my team will no doubt bomb long and high into their defenders.

Underestimate for Clarkson there, if anyone can find a way to beat it then it's that guy

Nice for atmosphere at the ground terrible to watch on tv
Fair call it's awful on TV. Thought it would be at the game too, just a bit annoying for my liking not a fan of the light shows, music etc. Havent been to Optus though but dont like it at other grounds either.

Not under pressure - inside 10m from goal - no drama whatsoever

Yeah I'm sure Clarko will come up with a strategy.
However executing it may be a different story altogether with all the talent you have around the park.
Enjoy the win and the season, looks another promising year.

At least we can develop, practise and execute a game plan that works on the g - at our home ground.

The two wa teams and brisbane are head and shoulders advantaged by this compared to the other interstate teams.

WCE clearly much more organised and the better team on the night. Umpiring had remarkably little effect on the game considering some horrendous calls both ways; was always a 50 point drubbing. GWS do some magical things, but need to find another way to play when they aren't happening.

Hawthorn only really have Roughead as a key forward. Gunston mobile enough to be a flanker. Clarkson will play a mobile forward line with Impey, Wingard if available etc and try to avoid kicking long and high.

The WC game plan /strategy (pretty much the hawks 3-peat game plan) is still ridiculously effective and damaging provided enough talent is there and executed well.

West coast have/do both

It’s particularly effective and efficient against sides who tend to have a more helter skelter or chaos ball, approach to attack, see melbourne, Richmond

It’s WC flag to lose.
