Autopsy Hawks fall in a heap against the Dogs - Rd 2, 2019

Effectively we were down 2.5 players since Scully wasn't expected to make a big impact in his first game back. Him and others having a bad day could of been covered for, but we were just simply one too many rotations down.

What's the status on Burgoyne and Shiels? Definitely hurt us around the stoppages in the last, we just lacked that experience to control the setup. We rotated heavily in the middle to try and find a cover which could give us something in the middle but it didn't work. Breust, Poppy, Smith, Roughead, Cousins, Worpel, Morrison etc all were thrown in and there was just a lack of structure and it hurt. I can see a case for Jones being fast tracked if Clarko rates him highly like he's indicated.
Nash was worked over, until he can offer us some aerial presence I think he's going to be exposed.

Not touching the umpiring, I think anyone with a pair of eyes could see how much it influenced the momentum of the match.

4.5 if you include their extra men on the field

Guys, the umps were bad but we gave up 9 goals in the end. Maybe I'm not taking it as hard because I feel like the loss will help us more that hurt us but our defence needs to be looked at. Sicily needs anger management, clearly.

The umps gave them at least four of those goals but more importantly gave WB all the momentum which is worth even more than the goals. Once they had that momentum there was no way of you guys winning given your lack of rotations but there was no way they were getting that momentum without the help of the umps which started with the O'meara free reversal.

Shame, shame, shame
Have since cancelled kayo membership and anything else associated with this league.
The game is unwatchble and changes on a week to week basis.
Afl needs accountability to it's members and supporters and after the dogs sydney game last week along with this insipid outing there is none.
This result was directly impacted by nonsensical decisions in what is meant to be considered a contact sport.

Plenty of upside in our game. However when something goes wrong, ie injuries, or frees against in a flurry, we crumble.

I would rather endure a quarter/game like this early in the season.

It will be a game we will never forget.

Not feeling as devastated. Good clubs respond.

Golden opportunity missed to be 2-0, however next week beckons.

Need to learn to play without Shiels and Burgoyne as they are not the future.

Scully did some nice things. His touches were elite and he will come good.

Wingard next week to play in the middle and forward.

Would like to see Nash sent back to the VFL to work on his game, i know he has a role in the team outside of hitting the scoreboard but we need more from him. 6-8 disposals and not hitting the scoreboard is just not going to cut it. I like what he brings but he needs to bring a little more.

Dude, my point stands that even if you magically take those 4 away (which honestly I don't) we gave away 5 goals within 15 minutes. Even if we had won we didn't deserve it, this gives the team a kick up the butt to do better. If we want to win flags you have to learn to stop momentum swings like that.

Contesting the Centre Bounce
(a) The centre bounce or throw up of the football shall be contested
by one nominated Player from each Team. The Player nominated to contest the centre bounce shall be positioned in their Team’s defensive half of the Playing Surface and with both feet within the 10-metre circle until they contest the bounce or until the Umpire calls ‘Play On’ due to an “offline bounce”. The Player may only enter the Team’s attacking half after the football touches the ground, in the act of bouncing, or leaves the field Umpire’s hand, in the act of being thrown up. The Player shall not be permitted to block an opponent’s approach to the contest. No other Player may enter the 10-metre circle until the football touches the ground, in the act of bouncing, or leaves the field Umpire’s hand, in the act of being thrown up.
(b) Where a Player contravenes Law 11.3.5 (a), the field Umpire shall award a Free Kick to the Ruck on the opposing Team.
(c) Unless otherwise determined by the Controlling Body, where the field Umpire bounces the football off line, the field Umpire shall immediately call ‘Play On’ and the football may be contested by any Player.

Just can’t see it - hadn’t raised the ball, hadn’t started the walk in - pretty confusing

An incredible run of umpiring which netted them 3 goals in 4 kicks.

If they want to keep paying that Sicily free kick, then the game is ruined forever.

Just call it Australian Rules Free-kick
In a multi million dollar industry the chest push frees today were just plain embarrassing.

I hope.clarko rips.them.a new one in the presser.

Peace from the dogs board. That was horrid luck for the players and supporters. The umpires are like a enigma so far this year. Might be too many rule changes. It also felt like the 2016 round 3 game where dogs fell away from bad luck and poor play letting hawks ran over the top of them. We lost Murphy for the year that day.

Anyways good game. Shame it was marred with bad umpiring though.

The Jaegar decision 10 mins into the last with Rough lining up to put us 6 goals up was the turning point. Have not seen a worse decision in my life.
I’ve seen a few worse ones and they were all in this game. Hendos deliberate OOB when us gullible public were told that if its a genuine skill error, it wont be penalised. Henderson is good but to deliberately slew the ball OOB when you have a teammate downfield takes real skill and balls.

Dogs probably only played 2 decent quarters so they get punished by winning the game? Say what you like Kkktronis it was handed to them and officiating decided the outcome.
End of.
Don’t think the umpiring necessarily decided the outcome but certainly helped. We stunk it up big time in the second and last quarters.

Sadly though, who comes in, we have a depth problem.
