Ratten is familiar with successfully coaching an absolute shambles that’s run by incompetent sycophants so he’d be a good choice.

That said I voted Sam Mitchell because he eats, sleeps and breathes successful football systems. Downside being he’d probably walk when he realised just how rotten to the core our club is.

Can we get Teague back as Forwards coach.



I was impressed with Jono Browns ability to read the deficit.in Richmond's forward line against Port. He basically wanted Lynch to be a target up the ground more and the smalls to feed off him. A few minutes later this is what Richmond did.

Could be a good forwards coach.

Impressed with that on the fly analysis. However not sure on his coaching credentials as a whole.

When charlton got rid off him seven years ago, there's been an awful lot of coaching changes. He has been overlooked everytime.

Saint kilda have had three narrow wins, all in Victoria. One against gold Coast. Who just beat charlton yesterday.

They managed to seek home against hawthorn, who are not consistent yet with thier rejigg/rebuild.

Lost to hapless freo.

He's entered talks with a few, but most never went past the informal stage. He did pull out from port years ago, near the last minute. Cited off field issues.

Melbourne would of been a good fit. Essendon another. Tigers were looking to replace hardwick, as late as 2017. Couldn't find anyone. Shirley, if Ratten wanted that job, he would of got it? Sound administration, big football budget, passionate supporter base. No reason to walk away from that

A guy from left field but one who is the best motivator and marshall on the ground is luke hodge...i know he has not coached but wow..what he does on the field in terms of directing his players..translate that to the box and i suspect he would be as sharp as a pin in terms of getting the team to understand what ge wants

He's Chris Fagan's understudy and coach in waiting, highly doubt you'll pry him out of Brisbane given it was Fagan that headhunted him.
If you were Hodge looking at the two lists currently who would you choose? And Hodge is hardly from left field by the way.

Fair enough. I just rate what he can offer not that it is realistic that we try to get him as a coach

Heard an interview with Sumich the other day and he spoke of turning down an offer from pyke to be senior assistant. Wanted to focus on learning to become a senion head coach so took the wa 18s job. He is a great strategist and knows how to get the best from the players. Heard from someone in last years wa18s team he was the best coach, a great communicator and new how to handle everyones egos and get the best from all of them. Would have loved to have had him at the crows at the moment.

A guy that has a habit of getting the best out of his players and position group's is Nathan Bassett, in the last 2 years he's coached the Port Defense to be the 4th and 2nd stingiest in the AFL consequetively.

And this year he switched to their forward line coach and he has got that unit from 13th last season up too 4th in terms of scoring in the first month of football (and that's without 2 of their best players in Wingard and Dixon).

Its a bit hard to judge a guy's credentials during the Essendon Saga, but before that he also coached Norwood to 3 flags in 4 years, and in the process helped mold a bunch of SANFL guys into AFL listed players.

I'm not 100% sure he's what we are after in a HC, but in terms of Resume's, well the guys putting together a pretty damn handy one!

To lose all our games leading up to the Blues game in R19 and lose that one as well and sit last and lose Pick 1?

Now we are stuck with playing 3 KPF, all in our leadership group, all highly paid and on long term deals

Pyke interviewed very well and had a clear vision of what he wanted us to do.

They will need to be someone with decent contacts in the footy world, which will help us attract decent candidates.

Gerald Fitzgerald would be ideal for that kind of role with his football experience over many years and now he's had over 12 months out of football he'd be refreshed and keen. One of the very best footy brains outside of the AFL he has knocked back plenty of AFL assistant coaching approaches over the years but I could see him being very interested in a David Noble/Brisbane Lions type role with an AFL club.
