Interesting listening on the North Talk podcast.

Been getting alot of great guests lately, I look forward to the podcast every week. It's been great to hear from people like McKernan, Stevens, Luff and Bowen and now Wallace.

What episode is Luff on?

Well that was interesting to listen to in hindsight. Luff on the money for most things except for the fact we needed to take our time with this rebuild. We exceeded expectations in 2018. Might be a bit of history repeating and come back to bite us. We need to do a full rebuild.

Yeah, I can see why he's brought on I think he'll prove a valuable asset for North, I was pretty rapt we got him honestly.

The rebuild was I guess done already in a Hawthorn style off the back of 2016 which was keeping a good spine going to an extent, but right now we need to prepare for when this current spine is over which is Goldstein, Higgins, Taz, Thommo, Daw (Maybe), JMac, Ziebell and I dno if Im missing one. Goldstein has Xerri, should've had Preuss now. The rest are unknowns, especially defenders. So our drafting/recruiting from this point on has to be perfect. We've covered the midfield/wings for a few more years but the rest is coming up more apparent as we go.

It's not panic stations yet, but if we let it slip for another season or two we'll find ourselves in a very deep rebuild like St. Kilda/Blues/Dees which is not what you want, their tactic of endless No. 1 picks is a myth that's unproven to work and I don't subscribe by it. Look at how Hawthorn/Geelong/West Coast have done it, that's how rebuilds should be.

Brad appeared to do things differently and we end up with a Win.

I’ll be interested to see whether he’s had a light bulb moment or if he falls back into old habits.

From past experience when Brad is under the pump he performs better unfortunately for most of his tenure he has felt 'comfortable'.

A lot of the adjustments from last week are just things that any decent coach would have been doing from round one.

The key with Ben Brown is that you need to surround him with as many aggressive players as possible. With Thomas, Zurhaar, Wood, Turner and Simpkin running around, we actually resembled a modern forward line. Who would have also thought that our forward line plays better when there's actually forwards there? With Atley, Campbell, Davies-Uniacke, Scott and Ziebell, it seems like our forward line is usually just where we play the blokes who we have no other spot for. This week we played actual forwards instead and saw an increase in our forward pressure and scoring. Great coaching, Brad.

We've also had Simpkin, Ziebell, Atley, Dumont and LDU all play out of their natural position at times this year, so it's funny that we played better when all five were playing the role that they are most comfortable with. We've also stopped playing the slowest back line in the history of the AFL, which I pointed out before the JLT would get destroyed by any side with decent smalls.

We're a strong chance to win our next three games now and it's an absolute disgrace that we're not going to be at least 5-2. Instead Brad has us on track for 9th again, which I'm sure the club will be thrilled with.

On the tram on the way to the game yesterday, a bloke sits himself down near me. About 20 mins pass and he get up and just before he disembarks he yells “BRAD SCOTT IS A DUD COACH. UP THE MIGHTY CROWS”

Was he trying to rile me? He couldn’t have said anything less likely to rile me. Was he a disgruntled NMBF member? Either way I’m disappointed. We could have whiled away that 20 mins bonding over Brad rather than stare out the window.

Well history tells me he will fall back to his old ways.
BUT, this time, even he knows that another contract won’t be offered early. So maybe, just maybe, we have some real hope

Coached well on Saturday, selections favoured gamechanging talent, players he's stuck with repaid him somewhat and tactically seemed to dominate Pyke.

One swallow does not make a summer but to mix non-metaphors credit where it's due.

Don't underestimate the stupidity down there at Arden Street.

The team doesn't seem to be enthused either. He looks to have lost them.

I reckon a mid season coach change with no expectations for the rest of the season after that. Will a new coach be able to turn this group around?

Can somebody who has a better footballing head start a "Next North Melbourne Coach" thread? With little reviews of the options?

Not the coaches who are currently employed, the likely candidates who may be ready to go from mid season.

I need some hope for the future.
