I agree, I normally don’t give a stuff watching neutral games but they’ve been horrendous. That they’ve had to drag Ryan out of retirement tells you about the quality of umpiring out there. The AFL are pulling the strings so tight on these inexperienced puppets, they have no chance of being consistent. Those HTBs where the players all stopped is beyond farcical, it’s an embarrassment to the game.

We are not a pitchfork packing lynch mob baying for blood, this is a genuine concern for the deteriorating state of this game.

The AFL need to admit that they've farqed it, and then drastically up the contracts offered to umpires. If you pay them more then more will be willing to do it, and the quality will inevitably improve.

They also need to stop with the rubbish rule changes every season and let the umpires get used to it.

I'll stop the quote there... but completely agree with it. It's another issue Gillon won't admit... now if seven sacked his useless brother would he admit... oh seven only gets the contract if they employ a tool named Hamish.

And that to me is the whole issue... it's not about football or anything like that at the moment it's about will you employ my brother or one of he's or my mates.

If you don't we'll change the rules each week. So you don't know what's going on (nor will our umpires) then we will come out on the media and poo on you... and if you don't agree you need to shut up or you won't get the footy next contract.

It really has got to the ridiculous stage.

BTW in the game today Essendon were a bit unlucky, do I hate them yest but that's just based on watching most of the game. Missed 20 in the third when it was apparently worse but had to get someone back to a nursing home. (P.S: he knows on Hawthorn game days he ain't going out.)

It’s funny, I’ve watched a fair few games since our round 3 last qtr shafting around inappropriate contact, which I might add the AFL ticked off as correct, and not one has been paid since.

On the booing, poor from Essendon to boo Pendles. But I reckon it was just pent up annoyance at the last qtr incompetency of the umpires and not aimed at him directly

I still remember the game where Clint Jones' kicks finally started going to St Kilda players. I believe it was just after Essendon picked him up as a replacement player.

The game simply confirmed that incorrect disposal is a rule that the umpires simply refuse to pay.
If the perfectly tackle is laid and the player “releases” the ball then it’s play on.
