Response by footy’s elite to booing controversy is a little rich
Eddie McGuire, Nathan Buckley and anyone else pointing fingers at fans for booing on ANZAC Day need to have a good look in the mirror.

Buckley also contradicted himself by wanting fans to control their emotion during a presentation ceremony when he failed to curtail his.

Magpies president Eddie McGuire, while making it clear the Bomber fans weren’t targeting Pendlebury or his club, said it was time to “get past booing” and “get it out of the game”.

Worth a read.

Considering that most of the people who end up in footy media are former footballers themselves, I think that's a good indication of the walls that these people play with around them in their careers. Most players are definitely out of touch with the public that supports them.

And I'm guessing you're a left wing not job. Might as well talk about my experiences to a slab of concrete. I lived in Portland and Seattle by the way, hardly right wing there. Media making stories of the situation yesterday rather then talking about the game of the year, it's no wonder people do sway right at times.
So just your feeling then?

Why do so many Australians worry what other countries think about them anyway?
Surely doing the right thing is the important thing.

Haha the only think you can take out of that is that sometime this week Eddie will get caught booing the **** out of an amputee indigenous journalist. Hack shouldn't even get airtime.

[QUOTE="Ford Fairlane,

Maybe they stay behind after work and boo their boss's empty office because they think he's an arseh*le too.[/QUOTE]

Oh good I thought it was just me that did that.

Nah my boss is actually really, really good.

(....Definitely not posted from work on a work phone while taking a dump on work time).

The emotion was primal yesterday - the essendon fans were going off and then the Collingwood chant went around the stadium in response. Violence felt imminent. One of the few unscripted moments we have had in many a year in our tightly controlled, sanitised, and increasingly corporatised game. For the youngsters reading, it took me back to Football Park and the 1982 Preliminary against the bays. That was a grey and overcast day and the pall of the 1981 grand final and Grangers treatment of Caldwell hung heavy over the arena. When Granger dealt with Cornes the onfield violence threatened to spill onto the terraces. At one point a story flashed around that Jack Cahill had been attacked by a Glenelg matron as he made his way to the 3/4 time huddle. When Barrets leg was broken someone near me yelled “they’re going to jump the fence”. Never have i felt an atmosphere so charged, so tribal, or so gripping. When we lost by the solitary point I was devestated. But as i made my way out of that concrete wasteland and on the long bus trip home, alone and barely more than a child, I gave my heart to this football club. And thats football, and what it should be, and in my book, if you pay your money, and wear the colours, and sit in the outer, no campaigner has any business telling you how you should or should not behave any more than they should be telling you how to live or not live your life.

That stuff should just not happen - someone should get there arse kicked.

Happened to my wife the night before our wedding down McLaren Vale... She ended up having a crap wedding, ruined the whole thing. Lucky her brother who is a paramedic gave her a drip after mains to keep her upright a bit longer!

Gibbs in doubt for Saints clash with gastro.

Must have had the salmon mousse too.

I assume it's about to get a whole lot tougher

He's getting paid $500k a season, I'd be crying in my car too, just not from mental stress.

Hope he's over it now and in a better mental space.

Whiteley in his younger days.. fancy this lad being easily offended.

It was at this moment the young, idealistic, and ambitious Whateley said to himself.....”If ever I’m fortunate enough to have my own radio show I will use John Farnham’s You’re The Voice as my theme tune....”
