Callum Twomey reporting that the clubs that have lost players to season ending injuries in these pre-season game will be pushing for an extension of the SSP option.

Good news for the Saints, their Warchest[emoji769] will be bigger than ever come October.
I know the rich have completely different views of money to the rest of us, but $1.7m per year is a lot to turn down. (Presuming there's a very significant payrise from what GWS were offering.)

Pre-season injuries are the worst. Terrible stuff.
Not much different to Chapman and Young in their first few games with us
Major injuries and lost a full season each

Happens to the best of em
But yeh it’s shit !

It’s a very loud headline but yeah, it all depends what the relative offers are/were.

In the meantime I’m going to go crawl under the blanket and cry about how much money these lil bastards are making compared to me

Is it just me or has this pre-season felt especially ****ed for just about every team when it comes to injury concerns.
Seems like we're one of the few where it's mostly gone to plan.

Hopefully a good omen.

Jeez if it was Freo in the position, I find it very hard to believe that they'd extend the SSP signing deadline.

At the end of the day it's just rookies getting a crack at AFL so I'm not against it but you just feel it's a different outcome if it's Freo.

Rules for some not for others.
Rules are rules until it affects certain VFL clubs.

The AFL are taking the P**s again, as they usually do.

I've seen some chatter here about people tired of death riding after last year's overload.
Not me though. I loved it.

I'm disappointed we don't have a legitimate death ride for 2025. Richmond's third round pick is lame because the stakes are low and the results predictable.

However, I may have stumbled across a death ride by proxy or a derivative death ride. Here's what I found on the West Coast subreddit:

Quick recap: in return for Barrass West Coast were given the option of either Carlton or Hawthorns 2025 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks. They chose Hawthorn.

So the death ride by proxy means we want Hawthorn to win and Carlton to lose.

This is something I can get behind. Well because it's Carlton and though I don't love the Hawks I can be convinced to. It might be fun. Hokbal and all that.

I'm on an alternate path.

I want Hawthorn, Carlton and West Coast to lose. And by lose, I mean every game and to draw when they play each other.

Don't think you can call it a death ride unless we benefit in some way.

Tarryn Thomas invited to trial at Swan Districts. What are your thoughts sdfc ?
Spoke to a few Swans players recently & they were pretty pissed off Sydney Stack was bought to the club last year without their input. A meeting was called by the leadership group with the coaches to question the point of bringing him in. They felt they were trying to rebuild a positive culture & didn’t think he would help that.

Not sure how this will go down.

Sad to hear the passing of Keith "Spud" Slater.

A super legend of the Swan Districts footy club, and very good all round sportsman.

Played test cricket for Australia + regular state games in footy.

Loved his years in the commentary box. Still have the vision of Spud appearing on the tv in the ABC sport segment (with Trevor Jenkins ?), on the Saturday in 1982 when the Black Ducks triumphed. Spud had the beanie on and was very jolly, with a massive grin.
