Provisional 2025 Draft order

Chad via FA and draft Troy Warner.

Bobby Hill was an Essendon fan growing up and hated West Coast. Doubt we'd be in the race anyway.
Troy is 2028 draft I believe?
Looks to be a decent prospect if he is already playing U16's championships as a bottom ager.
The Warner family are mad WC supporters so hopefully can get Chad as a RFA in 2027 and Troy the following year.

We've got as much chance of getting Bont as we have of getting Sam Darcy.
Pass on the $2mil Bont offer, bloke ran laps around Lathlain in pre season and proceeded to miss the first 1/4 of the season.

This is exactly my point.

Too much still has to go under the bridge before you can start worrying about 2026 delistings.

Trade period could change everything, as could the draft, as could another injury to x player.

Any list manager that doesn’t have a plan already for 2026 and beyond should be sacked.

Sure plenty of water to go under the bridge but that plan needs to be fluid and have multiple what ifs.

People talking about who to delist this year with an eye on what could happen into 2026 is exactly what any list manager should be doing

Not enough of an Essendon fan to join em over the Pies, though. If he did want to come home he only has two clubs to choose from (unless he wants to go play for the South Perth Stingrays again) so I don't know how much he will let his hatred for the Eagles as a kid get in his way. As you say, I don't think we'd be in the frame for him given our current position. Would love him in the wings.

Chad was a Geelong fan I believe.

You’d assume the next brother coming through would be Swans with both brothers playing there since he was like 9.

I think any club would be disappointed to lose a good person and player who they'd prefer to retain, but I don't think that any respectful organisation would be disappointed in them as a person for making that decision.

This is all hypothetical of course because there's been no indication that Bobby Hill wants to move.

Maybe they are disappointed in the circumstances behind why he may look to move.

Going to be a bit flexible on 2026 delistings/trades depending what happens with this trade period.
If we get a ruckman of quality BW will be traded in 2025.
Barnett will be delisted and paid out.
2025
Cripps: 1 year
Bazzo: 1 year
Cole: 2 years
Newton: think he is on a 6mth contract/shown enough to get 1 year extension

So 2026 will look like this
Cripps: retire after 1 year extension
Johnstone: delist/trade
Long: delist/trade
Bazzo: if we trade in a ready made player he will be delisted
Flynn/Livingstone: if a competent ruck is traded in only 1 will be retained as we have A Reid & JW who can help if needed.
Of the remaining players Newton & Davis would be the most vulnerable.

If the rumours are correct and bobby hill needs to come back to WA you'd think the eagles have much more need for him than the dockers

Trouble is there will be multiple teams willing to offer that sort of money for those three.

Not sure what we can offer to make our offer more compelling given none of them have a WA connection. Warner is the one we can get, that's why taking a Sharp this year makes sense. Get the bulls through the draft, get the speed and run through Warner in a year and a half.
We offer them WA! The weather is perfect, great beaches etc. Who wouldn't want to live here? I lived in Melbourne and the cold wind would cut through my bones, and this is when I was young enough that cold usually didn't bother me!

What’s changed for the info to change? If you don’t mind me asking

Can be multiple things. Club stance can change, or the simply it's a different source closer to things.

In this situation simply a better source and combined with a more up to date info on where the club is at.

Allen gone?

I haven't heard anything on that for a while so presume nothing has changed and he is indeed going to Brisbane.

Basically on the assistance the clubs take is that they don’t want AFL help but if they did it would be extra list spots or Cat B changes.

I mean it is an improvement and something that will tangibly help and is both a societal and club net gain, but when the AFL give Norf, a team we will likely be competing with post re-build, additional end of first round draft picks for being just as bad as we are, then we should be at least asking for comparible terms.

Its one thing to not get it, but we should be aiming higher. FFS
