And if we only played 1 forward Morris would get all the contests

I don't understand your point. The forwards need to share the load and we'll continue to try and set up as many scoring opportunities as possible even if that means Logan gets to less contests
Look at Naughton as soon as Sam Darcy went down, and look at him when he plays with Darcy. He was scoring more goals when he was playing without Darcy and he seemed like a much better player too. Morris was playing good towards the end of the last season, but look at him this season. Second year players don't play that good, which is why he's been given a lot of media attention recently. I also know sharing the scoring load is a must for the team, but it's also the truth that some players work better with less key position players in the forward line, while others play worse. I feel Charlie Cameron is the opposite, as he is a better player with Linc in the team, but i also think Morris could be someone who thrives on being the main man.

If he’s good enough he will be the main man, if Allen is better then he’ll be the main target. We’ll do whatever is best for the team

Was it reported the other day that the saints are offering $1.1m pa to this guy? 20 gamer. It’s insanity.

He has promise but that is crazy.
Either it works and it becomes a bargain because he ends up as a star, or (more likely) they significantly over pay him, don't have money left to attract good players and then they get to blame academies and F/S selections for their failure. Really it is a win win for them.

His numbers over the past few seasons suggest he's really good at set shots in the corridor and crap from every other type of shot at goal. Overall, slightly better stats than Hippy.

ie, not a difficult ask. Mind you, Hippy does put in with the defensive work, tackling etc. Not.

Mind you, it's the first time I've heard serious discussion on dropping him to the VFL.

If there are 5 on the bench next year, no need. We'll have the space for everyone.

But, if Allen settles in well, then I think Hippy will be the third best tall forward in the team. That means the least vital, since we'll only play three tall forwards, and Hippy can't consistently do a good job in the ruck (so far).

Do we risk putting Allen in as the rotating ruck right away? If we do, fine, Hippy can do his thing unless both Smith and Draper are in ripping form. But if that's deemed too great a risk, then we'll probably need to play two rucks. And if there's only four on the bench, it's a bit unbalanced to have three tall forwards and two rucks. Something has to give in that scenario.

Even after all this time, I honestly don't know if tall forward is Hippy's best position. I don't mean sending him to defence, I mean, is he best as a sort of tall winger, like Matthew Richardson used to play? He's so much better at field kicking to a forward target than he is at taking set shots for goal. I think it's entirely possible his best position is one that doesn't yet exist in our team tactics.

Why; he’s said a lot of dumb shit too and carries on a bit which doesn’t endear him to people. What’s so weird that a lot of people don’t like him or care for his look or coupled with being a big man coming off an achilles injury at his age? Pretty weird take 🤔

Why am I expected to weigh in on the Achilles when I didn’t even comment on it?

The Robbo comparison is a poor one. His off-field wrap sheet and unprofessionalism led to him being delisted and facing the end of his career but for our lifeline. Draper is not in the same ballpark. Just a bit of a weird unit.

Would we rehabilitate this bloke? This is a 100% legit source as well, trust me.

I honestly think Morris has improved this year . He's stronger and more confident.

Another strong tall in the forward line would more likely help him than not imo.
Please at least use Paint or something to drop a Lions guernsey on your avatar. Without any trigger warning I keep thinking you're an Essendon supporter and I start looking for your uncle...

This is the last one I promise.

I really want Draper at our club for the special kind of weirdness he would bring.

They’d need to trade to avoid stuffing their compo for Allen. Wonder if we could get one of their picks in the late teens there. Although probably gets swallowed up in the Annable bid. A future pick ?

Would still prefer he stays myself, but I think it’s unlikely now.

It depends on how bad his last concussion was.

From what I've heard, he's one more headshot away from retirement. Knowing that, he really wants to be a mid before the end of his career. Stuffs up us, as we don't have a set replacement, but it probably gives a Brain or McKenna a lifeline in the AFL, unless we bring in someone via trade. Will require a rejigging of the half back line with Answerth out 'till late next year.

Lester or Gardiner can lock down a small, with Doodee coming in as the third tall, but Starce is a better kick/ball mover than both of them.

On the flip side, having Starce's money off the books does help with keeping Ah Chee/Bailey, so that's something, I guess.

Never understood c*ke addiction in
Australia. By the time it reaches our shores it’s so heavily cut. We have some of the lowest purity rating in the world and it’s some of the highest street market in what you pay.

It’s substantially more cutter than primary substance. I remember reading a study recently that found 40% of what they tested contained no c*ke at all.

Lunacy.

Starcevich would be a pretty bad loss for us IMO, one of the best at locking down small to medium forwards in the competition, underrated in the footy media too, great closing speed, good intercept mark and getting better all the time with his disposal, got at least 5 years left in him, do not want to lose him.

Have we got anybody else who can line up on so many types? Maybe a fully fit Tom Doedee?

I’d be gutted to lose Starce. Such a dependable player. Can’t see him as a midfielder though. If he were to go to WCE he’d be in their top 4-5 players.

I am baffled we are after the likes of Draper and ROB before him. Just far too immobile / inflexible for a modern ruck.

Rucks will also become far less important if the quick ball up/throw in is bought in by Greg Swann as expected.
