Hopefully Odegaard and Saka are OK. They'd be our two best players (alongside Saliba). No chance Saka is playing against Liverpool based on his reaction.

Aside from those injury concerns it was great to see Dowman debut, Mosquera debut, Eze walk out to a great reception, and Gyökores score two.

Gunnerblog saying Eze called Arteta just prior to when he was going to agree to the Spurs deal. Artea told him they had a board meeting that afternoon. The deal was worked out during that meeting.

Eze had also been asking his English teammates to help push for him to get his move.

The agent should be paying Eze a fee instead.

Edit: the Athletic now reporting it too

Eze confirmation, #10, Wrighty in the unveiling video and a 5-0 win. Happy ****ing Sunday!

Timber is a ****ing bull, he is so underrated. He looked great. White must still be a while away if we are taking him off, must be protecting him too. Didn’t know Mosquera could play RB, some more handy depth.

Disappointing injuries - wonder how long they both miss? Saka out against Liverpool is a big blow.

Nwaneri was good in replacing, good that Mikel used him in the middle as the creative outlet. Hopefully we get more of that through the season.

I liked Madueke’s game. Did some very nice things, I like that he has flair and isn't afraid to show it.

Cala had another good game. Need to protect him too I think and he adds something different from MLS
Zubi very tidy

So happy for Gyokeres. Well taken first goal and that pen was a rocket

Dowman is absurd for his age, his technique is sublime. When Cala switched it to him (when he took that shot), brought it down like a feather.

Worried about those injuries. Especially Saka, will be a huge loss.

Gyokeres looks a bit slow, but gee he can smash a shot. It's what we've been calling out for, a guy that puts the ball in the back of the neck regularly.

Zubimendi looks so good in midfield.

Now that's better. Gyokeres with 2 hopefully that gives him confidence to start banging them in!

Saka and odegaard injuries a concern 😐 that's the arsenal way at the moment.

Dowman did well when he came on. Such a talent!

Not sure about romping the league, but definitely promising signs. Love the way Gyokeres smashed the penalty. Feels like years since we have had someone who just leathers it.

He hit it with some violence.

I read a comment that the keeper guessed correctly and dived out of the way.

Improved depth that we've been crying out for 👍

Having to resort to it so early on 👎

Two games, three injuries to key players including our two best. Just Arsenal things.

Viktor Gyökeres: “There’s always pressure. I know I’ll take my chances sooner or later. Today I took two and we won 5-0”. “Celebration about hair after social media attack? Might be, yeah!”

Major positives:

- Squad depth. Arsenal have purposely purchased players of the requisite calibre to step in and out of the XI as and when needed.

- Clearly some hard internal conversations have been had regarding the negligence last season with squad building. I imagine Arteta has had this directly with KSE.

- Gyokeres is a natural, instinctive striker. The ball played over the top from Calafiori was played quickly and allowed him to utilise that channel. He only had the goal in sight which is very refreshing from the at times horseshoe of death that we would see in similar last season.

- The penalty was harsh for me. Not enough contact for a penalty, I wish we could use that luck in a tighter game haha, not when it’s in added time at 4-0 up. Brilliantly taken though, Gyokeres should be on penalty duty from now.

- Mosquera at right back was seamless. A defender in the Tomiyasu versatile style is very welcome now. And allowed us to protect Timber however his display.

- Nwaneri and Madueke I thought was a new and interesting dynamic. Madueke I’ve been saying will be the starting LW soon, didn’t think it would happen so quickly.

- Dowman, 15, ****ing hell. The applause he received from The Emirates was beautiful, as was the Eze unveiling.

- Eze calling Arteta on Wednesday to make sure he can still join Arsenal, just when it was largely expected he would sign for Spurs, absolute gold :D

- The set piece delivery of Rice continues to excel.

Overall, a comprehensive and professional display from Arsenal. You have to put these teams away, score goals, and then manage the minutes of key players where you can.

However, the match of course wasn’t all great news. Negatives:

- Saka for me will be out for a while. Coming off a major surgery already, the risk is at this stage of your career the recurring hamstring injuries can derail careers. Even if it’s at the lower grading, he needs to be managed accordingly. Madueke will be integral in this next month or two.

- Odegaard as well, on top of Havertz and Saka, these are massive blows for Arsenal. Despite all of the squad additions this summer, these injuries compounding on each is too familiar a tale from last season. On top of White (severity unknown), that’s potentially 4 key first team players missing from the visit to Anfield next week. Damn.

The only silver lining to these injuries is that they've come just before the first international break, so hopefully everyone is able to get two weeks of recovery down without too many games lost.
