I think Hawks have bottled the rebuild. Never took enough top end talent when down the bottom. Are good enough to bounce between 6th-10th for a while, but how do they improve from here? Their tall forwards are poor and an ancient Gunston isn't kicking 60+ next year. Their midfield has one star and as you've shown, they're not developing any young talent.

This has been a rollercoaster ride of a thread and I think it serves as an important reminder that a week is a long time in footy.

From despair to elation, back to despair and vice versa.

Looking at the game tonight they didn’t look very good.

Couldn’t find space all night and Brisbane continually cut through them like Sydney did to us in the second half.

Newcombe (he’s good) Worpel, Ward, Moore, Nash and whoever else they run through the midfield are not an overly inspiring group.
Their best asset is their coach.

I think Carlton overpaying for the pick last year and then shitting the bed this year might save them. But depends what they do, I can really see them giving those picks up for say Petracca, improving next year, and then starting to fall off as players age out.
