I'm kinda in the same boat. The game is getting faster every year and i think we have a good group of young mids in (Hough, Harley, Hewett, Bo, Gross, Chesser and Hall) who can develop into good contested ball winners. Unfortunately i don't think Essendon will do that deal, as they'll want Duursma.

I would love to draft 2 of the following (Cumming, Farrow, M.Marsh, Lindsay, NHH, Grij, Schubert).
Our mids aren't super quick, Hall is a plodder. We have a need for speed if we want to be competitive with our rebuild.

Ok so assume thos wont happen and we'll trade all our first rounders for Zac Fischer but until trade period arrives and the club crushes my dream this is what I'm hoping for.

Look I know the consensus seems to be on here that we'll need to trade pick 1 and 2 for Fisher, but that's forgetting we can just walk him to the ND and pick him up with pick 1 by itself.

Sick of us being a nice guy club at the trade table, time to start playing this seriously.

Zaydyn with pick 1 in the rookie draft is far more appealing than CDT with pick 1 in the national draft.
Pretty sure we can just rookie list him if he goes undrafted in the ND if we wish, as he was part of our academy last year. Has come a long way this season. Hope we give him a shot, even with a late ND selection if required.

edit- sorry didn't realise this had already been covered.

In a super entertaining finals matchup Blake Kelly was one of the major protagonists. He did a lot of his best work around stoppage, consistently giving his team first use and driving them forward, able to not just release his teammates with hands but also use power and pace to burst into space at times for more damaging disposals. His kicking was iffy early but increasingly accurate as the game progressed. Ultimately Swan Districts were run over by West Perth in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't for want of any effort from Blake who at times seemed to be the lone man trying to hold back the tide.

Blake Kelly's kicking is always iffy. He was better by foot than normal. If you could give Fred's kicking into Kelly's body with swadlings ability to find the ball you'd have a number 1 draft pick...

Kelly seems a bit vanilla, but then I thought Chad Warner was too in his under 18s year…

192cm. Big wide well developed hips and legs. Strong. Can play.
Watched the first few minutes and just DON'T see it. Efficiency?? Kicked into players, along the ground, handballed to guys under the pump...against a team that is pretty ordinary. From the few minutes I watched there was little disposal efficiency and wasn't a great advertisement for his decision making. Must have a good tank to keep presenting for 40 touches but I'd need to see evidence of decision making AND disposal efficiency.

Not a huge possession count, but Sharp was a powerful force around the contest in this game, accumulating clearances and tackles and showing once again that he's probably the prospect most physically and mentally ready to step in and play AFL from round 1 next season. Unfortunately, with Central Districts losing their finals games in the seniors and U18s this is probably the last we'll see of Dyson in 2025, but he's left a lasting impression and will be one of the most coveted prospects at the draft in November.

Just take Sharp

Dont overthink it

Can we do that? Like medically? Ethically?

Who do we have to talk to?

While we’re at it can we combine owies, Barnett and bwill just for shits and giggles ?

It’s done!

As we get closer to the draft drafting Schubert a KPF to play KPD has merit.
The only way we do this imo is if we don't rate D Shanahan NGA KPD 2026 and also K LeCras CHF type 2026 draft and Mark's nephew as a replacement for Waterman when he retires.
Getting a KPD player like Barrat from STK CHB type in the Ryan trade and Blight as a DFA would fill our KPD stocks considerably for next year.
Can see 1 or both of Bazzo or Blight being delisted in 2026 if this happens.

Schubert & D Shanahan would would just cancel out B & J Williams who would be moved on.

Surely Jack is traded this off-season anyway? Where does he fit in our lineup?

Even though his Claremont team ultimately lost the game, Eagles father-son prospect Charlie Banfield was clearly best on ground. Banfield did a bit of everything and seemed to be involved in every phase of play, winning contested footy, laying huge tackles, launching himself for spectacular marks and kicking a couple of goals to boot. This hasn't been the most consistent season for Charlie, but he's found confidence and form at the right end of the season on the back of a couple of league appearances for the Eagles.
