Would explain why we blindsided a contracted Schofield by pushing him out the door unexpectedly (to him)

McQualter when asked about Goodwin after he’d been sacked by Melbourne was full of praise for him and said he’d welcome him to the club. Said he had a good relationship with him and respected his football knowledge

Not sure how I feel on that if it happens as I wasn’t particularly a fan of Goodwin as coach, but it would be a sign that McQualter is having a big say in the composition of his coaching panel
Agree, given a coach is sacked for a reason (usually not good coaching). But I guess he does have a bank of knowledge and experience that can be aligned with Mini's vision.
Anyway, all speculation at this stage.

Not sure on the coaches department but if M Duncan is coming in a development role I would be moving on Brennan or Trewhella.
I don't know their skills but reducing the amount of extra coaches and bringing in the best and paying them more would be a better formula to retain and attract the best.
Players to depart will determine who is gettable through the trade period.
If we are very successful and get 4 players through trade we should be paying out Barnett and keeping Livingstone, next would be Johnstone imo.
Another duplication of roles do we really need a head of development and a development manager. It must be a really strenuous role for 48 weeks of the year. One of them has to go.
If Mitch Duncan comes in to a development role then it's bye bye Brennan.

Yep, a curious one. Many wouldn't entertain that dynamic I'm guessing (ego).
I wouldn't. **** that.

The football industry is probably different in the sense that it's smaller and senior coaches land on the scrap heap all the time. If you want to keep earning a dollar, at some point you've got to suck it up.

Soo....when are we gonna start doing something? Essendon poaching our fitness bloke, Carlton making heads of footy changes, Saints signing and chasing a million players, Brisbane continuing to add to their riches in player depth with free agent commitments...while we sit around with our thumb up our ass and continue to hemorrhage assistant coaches and staff.

Innes is the only actual loss though. I am living for this churn. It's well overdue and a key part of revitalising the organisation.

It's a different kettle of fish joining a largely fresh team, where there's opportunity to establish a new culture vs being one of very few new faces at a calcified organisation, where the status quo is king. I think we will attract good candidates through this process. Coaches keen to work under Mini and back room staff who will bring modern thinking to our operations.

They have mortgages and families to support like most, and need to be employed. It probably strengthens his coaching resume in the long run, especially if WC+Mini climb up the ladder.

Oliver incoming........
I get that this is a joke, but I'd hope we look at it. He's a better player than Elijah Hollands (and Deven Robertson, and Alex Davies). And Oliver at even close to his best is almost the perfect fit to improve our midfield.

Only half joking - Demons boys seemed pretty close to Goodwin, and with Mini and him here they might be tempted. All coaches have their fans - like Daisy following Malthouse to Carlton.

I trust McQualter's decision on whether it'd be worth trying to get someone like Oliver / Goodwin over, surely he'd have a pretty good idea after being their midfield coach for a while.

IF we can get a favourable deal with the ammount to spend we have, go for it.

We could end up with Oliver AND Hollands, if they can keep relatively clean they'd be a HUGE improvement to our side, in spots we desperately need quality.

Definitely a risk, but the upside is massive.

Get them to train with Cuz. They'll be fit in no time.

Totally

Why aren't we doing anything off-field?

We've already moved on 2 of 3 assistant coaches.

"Haemorrhaging"

1 off-field loss - Innes.

Why aren't we linked to any players like the Saints?

We've been linked to every player available, and then some.

That poster is a certified moron.

Would Petracca be a safer bet than Oliver ?

He isn't coming to the bottom teams. Will be at Hawks by draft night.
Throw enough money at him and he will come, at worst we can drive up the price Whorethorn will have to pay.
Stick it right up Mitchell & Co

There's no driving the price up.
He's on about 1.5 million a year until 2021.

He's getting that regardless of where he goes.

And people want us to chase Oliver who is on pretty much the same money until 2022.
They're both not worth what they're on now when they signed those contracts.

Crazy talk.

I’m sure the title of this thread says “Staffing Changes”

So unless Petracca or Oliver are going to come across as coaches, there not relevant here

Get his ass.

As Keys was saying, while there good footballers, Oliver and Petracca are not coaching staff and they’refore if you’d like to discuss them the trading thread is over their.

Luke power leaving the blues.

Hope we've made a phone call.
