Regarding our Draft intentions I will say this that over the years we characteristically have:

• Historically we have been very good at keeping our real intentions close to our chest.
• Played cloak and daggers , smoke and mirrors as well as any other Club around our draft targets.

Now they may be correct this time, so it cant be totally dismissed, IMO Duursma is the best prospect in this draft so thats by no means a stretch from the media to suggest that we take him first , after pick #1 however, I still think there is a lot more to still play out between now and draft night.

Absolutely agree. For us the offseason has pretty much started in June so we as a board have had longer to panic over our picks - but also the club has had longer to figure out what we're after and send the signals we'd want to send to other clubs.

Like you say we've been a pretty hard to read club - if at this stage the vibe is we're keen on CDT, I'd almost take that as a good thing in that it'll maintain the value/uncertainty of our picks 1-2 should we end up wishing to split one of them.

Also lets us maintain the smokescreen a bit more before we reveal our cards in good faith to whoever we might trade with to move back up in the first round, whilst keeping all other clubs guessing. Handshake deals with bidding on GC players may also be a thing, and if that ends up being the case we'd be idiots to let anything leak early if at all.

If Twomey was saying a week out from the draft we were taking CDT with pick 1 I'd be more concerned, his late mail is usually pretty good, but for now I'm almost reading any rumoured interest as the opposite.

Worth keeping in mind that this is Duane Massey's draft and not Rohan O'Brien's.

Duane has done nothing so far that would hurt my confidence in us taking the players we need.

If I was Essendon on the other hand, they've got some very tasty picks to **** up. Expect them to take all the half back flakers with mid potential instead. Or hey, he might even be the one to swoop on "Barnett 2.0"

We do have a heap in that position but how many are good? Jobe and Waterman the rest are 50/50 at this stage. Same can be said about our small fwds, he have a heap with more coming in via nga/F.S but most are asscheeks hence the interest in Phillipou and NHH

If Farrow is who we want and we didn't think he was worth pick 6, we should be able to trade that down.
