Ground dimensions very different though. Maybe they’re better suited to playing you at the MCG than at home?
Possible…but a narrow ground like GMHBA shouldn’t suit our chip mark game like the expanses of the MCG. I think we would have learnt a lot from two weeks ago.

So the only chance the Pies have if winning is if the Lions don't play their best due to injuries or their banged up bodies?

Following on from our win against the worst minor premier in the history of the game, who got stagefright and were preoccupied with the Rankine issue.

Good to know.

I wish I was that confident about beating a team we'd beaten once in our last 6 contests...
That was actually a great summation, kudos.

Played his role in a team of stars. Made Maynard look very silly.
I agree. still a 4/10 game. 10 touches at 60% disposal efficiency.
A game goes for 4 quarters though. you can't blame Maynard for playing a little loose in the 2nd half though after Rayner was playing dodgeball in the first. But a little bit like fritsch, he hit the scoreboard which he owed the team and he did.

bungalow_bill is going back 100 pages and reacting to every post made over the last week that didn't have the lions as dead certainties to win really worth the time it takes to do? and after the game is over at that

Jon Ralph blatantly lying on tv saying that Starcevich didn’t have eyes on the ball. At least Brown called him up on it.

I don’t blame the people that think it’s a free, considering how it’s interpreted. It’s the AFL’s fault in that sense.

But by the book, it’s objectively not a free. Won’t even go into the terrible advantage that was paid just before it

Why are David King, Jack Riewoldt and Jon Ralph doubling down on the "Starcevich v Elliot" absence of free? Starcevich had eyes on the ball and flushed the ball out of Elliot's hands without obstructing Elliot's face, chopping his arms, or hitting him unduly in the front of body/face.

Not only was it not a free kick, it was an exemplary spoil running with the flight of the ball.
Same morons who will go on about how being spun 360 degrees in a tackle = HTB.

Serious question. In the history of BF, has there ever been a poster with a greater fascination/contempt, than Danster168 for a single player?

That non free kick to Elliot was huge. Bris went down the other end and scored - 2 goal turnaround. Went from a 6 point margin to 18 and the game was almost effectively over.
That umpire won't be there next week
One thing for certain, Collingwood won’t be there next week

Gotta tip your hat to the way Josh Dunkley has put his ego to the side the past two weeks and played his role absolutely perfectly. What a fantastic player and teammate.

What is the record for most premiership medallions? Wouldn't mind him being the new record holder with a few wins

BREAKING : Scott Pendlebury has just announced his retirement

15 hard to put in that bucket as WC beat the Hawks in Perth then lost the GF at the MCG.. went from a home game to an away one.

05 not really a good example either as WC beat Sydney in Perth then lost at a neutral venue.

03 is fair though - same venue different result.

Point being the venues are relevant in the analysis.

A few key points:

1. No pre finals bye in 2003.

2. Collingwood's 2003 GF team only had three players who ultimately played on a premiership team, four if you include Leon Davis. History shows them to be one of the all-time "How in the world did they even make the grand final?" sides of the AFL era, five players who didn't even get close to 100 games. Geelong will likely have 12 premiership players in the 2025 grand final lineup, not including Max Holmes who would have certainly played in 2022, were he not injured in the PF.

3. The last player to retire from the AFL who featured in that game hung em up a decade ago.

Because it's Geelong, I pretty much always think we can win, or we can lose every week. But if it were another team coming up against Brisbane, who'd beaten them the way we beat them two weeks ago, about to make their third trip in four weeks to Victoria, I'd be pretty confident about which team was likely to win. Because it's Geelong, I'll treat it as a coin flip until the facts say otherwise.
