Lions to good. Well done to Fagan, what a brilliant coach. Amazing the club couldn’t hold a player and now playing in a third GF.

Pies best players just didn’t fire. Unfortunately guys like Crips, Degoey, Miocheck etc had little impact and we probably needed to play well.

Saints fans are very familiar with that kick from Membrey

Membrey was about 30-35m out when he took that mark.. brain fade trying the short pass, should have taken the set shot

That's the reality of it. Should've gone back and had the shot. Where he was positioned and where the defenders were is was always a tough kick to get it to Elliott.

Sick of hearing commentators go on about burning a teammate when a player is 40 or less and in a central position. Unless you can give to a teammate in a better position under no pressure, having the shot is the best option.

Was anyone seriously surprised at last night's result? Pies get anyone else but Adelaide first week and they lose, cant believe so many so called footy experts were fooled by the Adelaide result. This is a team that has been cooked for 2 months now. Brisbane were always going to beat them and beat them well.
They are staring down from the top of the cliff as it crumbles beneath them, t's time they cleaned out the old dead wood and hit the draft hard.
I wasn’t fooled buddy, I said to many on here pies win in Adelaide was inferior form, there form b4 finals was terrible,
all pies fans got fooled, lions are level above pies with so many injuries they still belted the pies easily.

This is something that hasn't been talked about enough:

Collingwood Form During 2025 Season

R1 to R18: 14 wins, 2 losses

R19 to PF: 3 wins, 6 losses

They peaked too early and/or they were front runners for most of the season but when other teams started playing better, they were found out. Collingwood in my mind were nothing more than a "good team" but nothing truly special either. Their form in the back-end of the season was garbage - in the end they were found out.

The carry on over one controversial decision is next level. You expect it on here, and I'm as guilty as the next guy, but surely if you want to be taken seriously as a professional you swallow your bias and move on. Jon Ralph, David King, reporters for news.com etc.... hilarious.

Mate I am just happy one non Vic side made it to the 2025 grand final.

This time last year, I was cheering hard for Brisbane to beat Geelong due to making sure it was a all non Victorian grand final. Swans vs Port was irrelevant to me.

I didn't care who won last year's grand final. It was moving North regardless.

It was either gonna land at NSW or go further up north to Queensland
Yes its something most WA fans can get behind.

Lions with 3 teenagers and 6 under 22.

It’ll be the elderly against the youf on Saturday. Can the Pies get up once more before they Thelma and Louise off a cliff.

I admit Eagles fans are a tad jealous of how many older player well over 30 still keep producing exceptional football for the Pies. Players tend to fall off the cliff pretty quickly over 30 out West.

Interesting comment this week on the Eagles board, "The Collingwood list couldnt be based out of Perth."

Looks like father time is catching up and hurt them at the worst time. Four minutes into a Prelim they lose their 2nd best mid and on field leader.

At least now there is some interest in the grand final.

2x number 1 picks is also hard to get. no respect from me

Nepo babies being force fed top 5 picks most years.

How much draft assistance have AFL policies allowed them to receive in the past 5 seasons playing finals and grand finals?

As opposed to teams struggling to rebuild?

So much for AFL equalisatiin policies being effective.

But hey, AFL gets what it wants. An expansion state team playing in the grand final again. Gotta get those TV ratings up no matter what.

For me an absolute perfect spoil.
99 times out of 100 a player would give away a free and would not have been able to:
(a) make up all that ground
(b) kept his eye on the ball and not get distracted.
(c) got his fist on the ball without clearly taking the arms off his opponent
..............................

18.5 MARKING CONTESTS 18.5.1 Spirit and Intention
The Player whose sole objective is to contest or spoil a Mark shall be permitted to do so.

18.5.2 Free Kicks - Marking Contests A field Umpire shall award a Free Kick in a Marking contest against a Player where the Player:

(a) holds or blocks an opposition Player;
(b) unduly pushes or bumps an opposition Player;
(c) deliberately interferes with the arms of an opposition Player;
(d) makes contact to an opposition Player from front-on and whose sole objective is not to contest or spoil a Mark; or
(e) makes an unrealistic attempt to contest or spoil a Mark which interferes with an opposition Player.

18.5.3 Permitted Contact Incidental contact in a Marking contest will be permitted if the Player’s sole objective is to contest or spoil a Mark

D) didn’t actually make front on contact , Elliot fell backwards

It was a superb bit of defence

Glad the umpire had the balls to call it , particularly in that moment

Especially when they cost them combined about 8 picks in the 30s
That's the major problem with the system. The original draft picks the teams who matched had early in the draft remain on the board in the hands of other teams.

Coleman Answerth Hipwood Payne Allen Draper Neale Ridley Anabile next year
Will be very hard to beat the Lions with 30 players on the field!

I stand by this. Horribly umpired game. Biggest moment in the game was a bad non-call.
All finals usually have bad umpiring both ways. It is what it is. Biggest problem is that instance was a correct call as far as the rules are concerned. Rules specifically state front-on contact is allowed if the player's sole intention is to spoil. Umpires are just generally err on the side of caution. That said, players don't usually consistently watch the ball before - they usually peek a glance at the player in front of them which gives umpires an out.

I'm amazed how many fans, players, commentators don't actually know the rules of the game. Fans I can kind of understand, but don't get all pissy about it if you don't know what you're talking about.
