I get it when it’s Collingwood V North, like Houston last year.

But when was the last time the Saints got 50+k to a game.

I just don’t understand how they could be selling a better vision than us.

'All too hard'. We are based as close to the CBD as any Melbourne-based club in a great suburb, hope we have tried that as a selling point.

Not the half of it.

Recently voted by Time Out as the second coolest suburb in Australia and the 24th coolest suburb on the Planet.

I can hear them coming.

I think the cat is out of the bag on this one.

St Kilda banked their 5% for the year, front-ended a lot of contracts (like max king), didn't pass on the CBA uplift to all players... meaning they had about 2-3 million to play with in their cap, not accounting for delistings or departures (e.g. if Steele were to leave). Then you backend who you bring in too.

When you're overpaying by 50% of the market rate (e.g. for tom de konig) I don't think it's a judgement on environment or crowds, just cold hard cash.

It's clever but very all-in. I'm curious to see how it goes.

Went for a walk through North Melbourne yesterday. It's very beautiful and dead quiet.

The CBD sucks brother. Young blokes spend all their time in Collingwood/Fitzroy/Brunswick now. And rich young people like footy players tend to buy in the inner North, East and South. Not that we're far from there either.

Ergh. That’s bleak.

Not sure how St Kilda of all clubs could be selling a better vision than us.

Managers must be playing a big part it encouraging their players to not even entertain our offers…can’t just be the small club stuff? Is it Rawlings? Is it the coach? Is it the exec?
Very few people want much to do with our club and IMO it's not just the size of the crowds. Basket case gets thrown around a lot.

Keep in mind no club is actually based in the cbd. And yes we are close to those spots. My point is I don't think we are as disadvantaged as we like to think.

I don't have any insight on the 'basket case' aspect that you mentioned.

All good now but when their younger players want more money is when trouble will start.
Also proven players like Sinclair , Higgins and wilke might be upset that unproven players are getting paid more than them.

Their trading will be interesting... they're gonna try to walk Aleer to the PSD.
I wish we had the gonads to do that to CCJ when we knew no one could take him before us. But instead we burnt a 2nd round pick

You cant compare an outfit that bought in Newcombe and Masamao and barass with one that bought in ccj, tucker and biggy.
Don't forget the streak of duckshit that would have gone number 1 in every draft in history- Jacob Edwards...

Over the next couple of years, yes. But this could very well blow up in their faces like our spends of the 2014-2018 era.
Like our rebuild?

If we are talking about shit blowing up in one's face, we are at the top of the list...

Its the fact we have arguably the greatest coach in modern history and he still cant get us off the canvas...

Managers would be warning clients if they come here, they may never see another winning season.

To be fair, and I'm a fan of Clarko, he hasn't gone anywhere near that with us. His team selections and game style have been baffling.
