The harder path out one? It's not a very high pedestal given the low common denominator here but are you going to get back on topic or just here throw more barbs?
Do you have an opinion on Niall's article or do you just think it's BS?
The harder path out one?
It’s pretty simple really. Pay up what Essendon demand or close to it and Zac gets to Hawthorn
Obviously haven’t seen it,Do you miss the Niall article?

Well Merrett want to leave and Day does not, so no.Kinda sounds like the Zac Merret situation
Nick Daicos also got called to be asked, guess he’s off aswellHis management took the call.
Further down the road than the EFC hawks sit

Well, I wouldn't have read what you have said on your board. I see your board has a whole thread devoted to Essendon, which also speaks to the (general) supporter mindset. If you read through the pages, you will notice the non-trade-related club sledging is very one-sided.You're tone policing and you're not a moderator.
Firstly I've argued on my have Hawthorn board that Essendon have good young players (you can go check) but the hate there means I can't even have proper conversation about that.
You and other Essendon posters are attempting a character assassination when I've mainly discussed the trade.
I've just recently posted my thoughts about the article and I don't see any of you quoting or referencing it. Maybe stick to the topic or trade rather than derail the thread.
You get a callNick Daicos also got called to be asked, guess he’s off aswell![]()
It’s sad when one club has a dedicated oppo club on its own forum.Well, I wouldn't have read what you have said on your board. I see your board has a whole thread devoted to Essendon, which also speaks to the (general) supporter mindset. If you read through the pages, you will notice the non-trade-related club sledging is very one-sided.
Why the hyperbole?Nick Daicos also got called to be asked, guess he’s off aswell![]()
Jack Steele doesn’t want to go but Saints are ok moving him onWell Merrett want to leave and Day does not, so no.
umm no it doesn't hahaha Day has no intention of leaving.
Legit question, does anyone know what Essendon are wanting? It’s pretty simple really. Pay up what Essendon demand or close to it and Zac gets to Hawthorn
You haven’t heard that,Legit question, does anyone know what Essendon are wanting?
All I've heard is they want Hawthorn's best and last offer and if acceptable they'll trade Zach, no negotiation.
Obviously haven’t seen it,
Please post in full
So like a number of other clubs?Posting in full I'm pretty sure is against forum rules but these parts might interest you
"Whereas the Bombers’ football department could approve of a deal with Hawthorn, the trade would still need board approval"
"That the board headed by Welsh...has a right of veto over a Merrett deal adds to the high stakes involved, placing pressure on Hawthorn to come up with a deal that can satisfy Essendon, from the top down."
Legit question, does anyone know what Essendon are wanting?
All I've heard is they want Hawthorn's best and last offer and if acceptable they'll trade Zach, no negotiation.

IMHO, the 'board approval' and the language over 'no meaningful conversation' are all tactical in trying to extract maximum value. I think it's more of a stage performance. I think (hope) Hawthorn and Essendon are talking behind the scenes, and finally, not every back-and-forth is playing out in the media. I'm sure Merrett is sick of the media circus and would be happy for it to be sorted out less publicly.Basically what I've been saying for 2 weeks.
Key parts of the article:
“No meaningful discussions between Hawthorn and Essendon.”
That's what I've been saying Essendon's been stonewalling.
I got laugh reacts from Essendon posters because of my "reading" of the situation.
Both clubs admit it what I've been posting, while Essendon fans kept calling it “rubbish.”
Merrett “has made plain his wish to join Hawthorn.”
Explains itself.
The board veto clause.
Ahhh... Massive?
A board-level veto means Essendon’s football department can’t even complete a trade without political approval. Wow.
This is not a rational but purely an emotional club. Rosa must be thinking... How do I become Dodoro.
Like my constant argument here about the Dodoro ghost /optics over substance... Word for word here.
Hawthorn’s offer.
Pick 9 is already on the table. What else is there? Likr I've said before, this is what Hawthorn has, Essendon is welcome to shop Merrett to Collingwood or Geelong and get a worse offer or keep unhappy player
If no serious talks occur, it’s on Essendon...not Hawthorn.
We're almost at the end of the trade period, and no nomination yet or negotiation. Could suggest Merrett’s camp knowing Essendon’s obstruction is political, so they’re waiting until the board pressure hits boiling point before forcing their hand ( next week).
Essendon’s optics war has already backfired. Journalists starting to writrt that the board must approve a trade, screams incompetence.
Merrett’s delay now looks tactical, not hesitant: if he nominates after the board meeting, it isolates Welsh and the board and then they can’t claim ignorance or hide behind “we didn’t have time.”
Hawthorn’s position strengthens either way and they look patient and disciplined while Essendon looks reactionary and pride-driven.
Players at any half decent team when their phone rings:You get a call
You're gone
Totally agree effectivley that statement is, nothing has changed but the board will pretect its employees by providing a shield like any business would do. Dodoro rightly or wrongly used to wear the brunt of the speculation in regards to trades, this time Essendon isn't taking those chances with Rosa. P.S. im also usuing you as a sheild as i not getting into the back and forth over the last ten pages..........So like a number of other clubs?
a google search would tell you it’s not out of the norm….
We are trying for pick 1 for Duursma and for Duursma from NM as well.... Essendon think that if you collect all 4, there is a super evolution that will fix all of the club's problems. Any part that Hawthorn can play in assembling the Duursma Voltron would see Essendon immediately part with Merrett.Legit question, does anyone know what Essendon are wanting?
All I've heard is they want Hawthorn's best and last offer and if acceptable they'll trade Zach, no negotiation.
