Isa not copping Stokes' bullshit answer there not once, but twice, was a thing of beauty. She's one of the best in the business.
I have called her this generations Richie.
Knows her stuff, doesnt waffle on, doesnt "talk down" to the viewer, etc.

My wife works at Optus so we lose out a days wage

I was invited to a corporate box so I lose out on a day of free food and alcohol.

**** your moral victories, you Pommie w***ers.

Andrew McDonald: Usi, can I have a quick chat with you? After what we've just seen, I think we're going to open with Trav in Brisbane.

Usman Khawaja: It's the right call I think. Unlucky for Jake, but Trav was on fire. I love batting with Trav. Think we'll work well together.

Andrew McDonald: Look, about that...

Bazball is NOT how to play Test cricket. Full Stop!!!! We already have T20 cricket, why try to turn Test cricket into a slogfest as well?

The only two wickets they lost across their top 7 in both innings to what you would term ‘slogs’ were Crawley in the first innings - and even that was not like a slog sweep or something - and Smith when he was down to Carse at the other end.

They got out playing attacking shots, absolutely, and they could have left them alone.

But what rule says you aren’t allowed to try and drive a ball through the offside with a level of convention just because you don’t like it and the ball is red? Because that’s how the 3 key wickets fell today that probably decided the test.

Not slogging, not backing away, not hacking. Just some ill-advised attempts to play relatively ‘normal’ shots to balls that weren’t really there for it, without committed footwork. And probably at a bad time to do it

Bazball works but you have to know when to reel it in and they couldn't do that this match thankfully
Can’t forget our first innings was absolute ass but the way we handed over 10 wickets. Starc, Head and a Boland cameo rescued what was an abomination up until a few hours ago

Don’t think their tactics were all bad to go after it they’re just shitter than us at it

Cricket Australia is staring at a potential $4 million payout on ticket and hospitality refunds after an astonishing series opener finished inside two days at Perth Stadium, in the shortest Ashes Test with a winner since 1888.

It comes after Cricket Australia recently announced an $11.4 million loss for the 2024-25 financial year.

Would you?

I’d say it was a great performance by Travis Head, Mitchell Starc, and to a lesser extent Scott Boland and Marnus for a time. Doggett I suppose bowled handily for a bit. Both sides have some huge self-reflection to do but crucially one team knows it is likely to get stronger, and that it a) has the Ashes and b) now has a lead. They’ll be hard to run down and overtake from here
In some ways we were lucky. We still need plenty of improvement, but we did what we needed to do, and a few champions did it extraordinarily well.
