This thread is becoming increasingly popular, and to keep some sort of order, we will have some….

Rules of engagement:

1. Bring valid news or links to Twitter posts from notable sources. Don’t post screenshots or “some bloke just said on SEN” or what some “trade whisperer” has posted on a Facebook page.

2. Ignore what other team boards are putting up as trade offers. Don’t quote or bring them here either.

3. Don’t post “buckle up” for the lols.

4. If you can’t say anything nice about Worpel or CJ, don’t say anything at all. The continued slaps and backhanders are just going to be deleted.

Would have like to have got the Mornington Peninsula seeing we are at Dingley now, and try to work it like Geelong work the Bellarine Peninsula.

Geelong now have all Western Victoria and St Kilda have the Mornington peninsular. The only clubs to increase their footprint and not lose anything

This is NGA, right? Have you seen Box Hill & surrounds? There'd be more eligible candidates than Mornington Peninsula & Western Vic combined, surely.

The density off humanity in the middle suburbs is mind blowing to me. When I came to Melbourne the city population was about 2 million, and these areas were close to being paddocks.

Geelong and surrounds has had a similar population explosion too though. Just not anywhere near the same scale. I'd bet that culturally the rural areas have more of an emphasis on sport as pillar of social life though.

Personsally I reckon we'll see an influx of players from South East Asia at some stage. There are so many freakish athletes in places like Thailand who are used to contact from the national sport (Muay Thai) and have freakish skills from playing volleyball with a tiny wicker ball using their feet etc.

They just need to be shown a pathway to a professional career that pays really well now, and be given access to a ball and space when they're kids.

I don't know how that happens. But their odds of making it will be greater than they are playing the round ball game, and the environment would be more familiar than what Europe has to offer.

Seriously how damn disrespectful of the players we just drafted can you possibly be?

Do you ever think that maybe some things are better off remaining embarrassing thoughts than sharing them with everyone here?

Do better.
In a year that saw South Australia win the National Championships for the first time since 2018 and both Adelaide and Port Adelaide didn't have a first round pick between them, giving teams a clear run at some top end SA talent, and our list management team read the play beautifully to capitalise on the situation.

The flip side is we are actively chasing Butters and the likelihood of Port requesting these players in a trade scenario is as real as can be. If the Hawks were not willing to part with one or more of these guys in a trade scenario for a needle mover like Butters I'd be disappointed. My point is we are well positioned to get a Butters deal done, nothing more. I'm sure if one of Nairn, Schubert or LeRay were to show top end potential in the next 12 months they'd be off the table just like Weddle, Wiz and Day would be.

Also, this is a hypothetical trade discussion...try not to get your nickers in a knot!

If we were Norf or the Scum, then you'd certainly have to entertain the possibility probability that all three would request a trade back to SA together and try to get the best deal. ;)

But then, we're not.

If they haven't shown potential they aren't going to be needle movers.

Mate I think most people that commented on the situation mainly meant to just keep it in the forefront of your mind that these kids (drafted players) read and follow BigFooty so just be careful of what and how you say things.

At some stage we had Billy Hartung's old man commenting in here and also Matt Hill's uncle. Also someone mentioned the other day that Jordan Lewis said that he used to visit BigFooty back in the day when he first got drafted so yes I think it's very important to no treat these guys like cattle / commodities.

I’ve lost count of the amount of family members that I have known of who read/post here over the years.

And Scrimshaw's old man more recently.

I don't think he's revealed himself but wouldn't be surprised if Ginni's dad was a regular poster here that we all know.

He's very active in Hawks facebook groups, and was sharing lots of picks of young Jack in hawks gear when he got traded.

I'm pretty sure there were some BigFooty posters in Moore'ys little black book from earlier.

Moorey also mentioned he went to Bigfooty to check if it was true that he'd been delisted when there was a rumour of it.

If we drafted players with the idea to trade them a year later for a free agent it would put a very large stain on the club. We may as well merge with the scum at that point. That said drafting players who might bring the player targeted to the club or keep them like it has been rumoured that port did for butters or dees did for Humphrey is perfectly fine. Shame we can’t get Caddy from the scum to partner Harley with him and the Wiz!
just reading afl trade targets and is ridiculous, I would stay away, even with weddle, 7 year deal, if essendon is offering, just let him walk if he does not want to stay for reasonable pay, reasonable contract, not only have to trade picks for butters but look at his contract, 8 years for $14M, stay well away, humphrey 6-8 year deals $1.2M-$1.4M. If can get someone on the cheap and not cost us much good, otherwise just keep getting through draft and if you lose a few so be it, as long as keep bringing them in, cannot sacrifice integrity of club for a couple of stars, it is a team sport, best team wins. Well said.

I’m sorry mate but this is the new era. The cap is increasing and 1mil a year is equivalent to about 6-700k a year in the threepeat days.

The fact that there’ll be players on 2mil per year now and even more in the future shows how much the landscape has changed.

I expect Weddle will sign with us on a deal that will take him through to free agency, which seems to be the new norm.

No one for all the money in the world is going to Alcatraz FC. Players and their managers may use the offers to squeeze a bit more out of respective clubs but nothing else. Players would’ve heard zerrett talk about high performance environment and other players also wanting to leave. It doesn’t scream “yeah we’re a club that knows what we’re doing and we have a plan of where we’re going and how to get there”.

Am looking forward to all the SA boys staying for a long, long time. As said, not a good look to be tipping someone out, unless he is called Traiden Schubert, then it's on him and his parents.

Looking forward to seeing them link up at the Stangs.

Surely not, as if the club wouldn't communicate that to him prior to it being announced. Or to his agent at least.
Yeah probs. I come here for the latest news, knowing full well it is a well researched trove of honest thoughtful posts from genuine people who are in the know.

Knowing Moorey he was possibly taking the piss - but he did say it.

I don't understand why this keeps coming up as a suggestion.

Basically, what this suggests is If Butters ultimately never even entertains coming to us (which is likely), then we've wasted draft resources on 3 players we didn't even want, plus a years worth of time spent developing them.

Why would a club do that?!
Not even North Melbourne or West Coast would do this.
Butters hasn't even hinted he's interested of wanting to come to us, I agree we need to stop this talk. It's Humphrey who we are loading up on assets for. He made it clear he's keen to join us and the GC will bite for the right price. Pretty certain of this

If we manage to snag Humphrey then from the 2022 draft we'd have him along with Mackenzie, Weddle, Hustwaite and Bailey Macdonald (Jack O'Sullivan delisted). Not a bad haul at all especially after snagging Ward, Butler and Connor Macdonald in 2021 (Jai Serong traded). Those 2 drafts really shows the stellar work the MM and the drafting team have done which was very important after the dreaded covid draft in 2020.

Well Stkilda were the most vocal- squeeky wheel.. Geelong because they are Geelong..

I have to say you are my favourite poster on here SC, rivalling T4P (another legend on here). Please never leave 😄
