Just quietly, SA have built a very capable side.

Bavuma not only seems like a good leader, but also very capable tactically. Plans well, makes clever field placings and shifts fields quickly.

The batting is still flaky, and reliant on Bavuma, but the likes of Stubbs/Rickleton/de Zorzi do have potential (Rickleton has impressed me the most of those three). Verreynne can also be destructive on his day, and I do wonder whether his best is yet to come (his FC record is superior to De Kock's). Plus Rabada/Jansen/Ngidi is a formidable attack, and Mulder is a very handy 4th seamer.

There are some downsides - Harmer/Maharaj/Bavuma are already over 35, Stubbs/Rickleton/de Zordi aren't yet the finished article, and I'm not yet sold on Muthusamy as a replacement for Harmer/Maharaj despite some startling performances. Also not really sold on Wiaan Mulder. Markram is also Markram - capable of brilliance, but frustratingly inconsistent.

But they've shown that they can give anyone a game on their day, and I'm suddenly apprehensive about our upcoming Test series there.

I hope Shukri Conrad at least acknowledges that using the word 'grovel' wasn't the best word to use. An apology would be better. He would have been better off saying something like ''well, there have been times where they're had a big first innings lead, batted again and batted the opposition out of the game, so we're giving them a dose of their own medicine'' when asked why they batted as long as they did in their 2nd innings.

There’s no real reason they aren’t entitled to be favourites at home.

I wonder if QDK isn’t starting to regret his test retirement now too

what point are you trying to make?
My point was England ain't fighting with other nations to host Test Cricket during there summer like all the southern hemisphere are.

I am sure NZ, SAF would love Boxing day tests every year as well but its just not viable due to the hosting competition and spots.

Australia will always win out in that battle.

Calendar space between October-March is all crammed in you have India, Australia, NZ, South Africa, Pakistan all wanting to host tests series in that period.

What countries are hosting tests Between May-August the West Indies & sometimes Sri Lanka.

oh, right. that's a stupid point.

Was watching some highlights, and they said Senuran Muthusamy throws right handed but bowls left handed. I can't recall anyone else like this. I know there's a lot who bat opposite handed to their bowling arm (and some theories it may be more natural).

I think there's quite a few who bat left handed, but play golf right handed (which may have more to do with only having right handed clubs when learning).

Has Australia had anyone throw and bowl with opposite hands? It would be great in the field if you could throw the stumps down with either hand.
Jack Leach also throws right handed but bowls left handed.

Chris Lynn and George Bailey both taught themselves to throw left handed after having right shoulder injuries but it isn't a natural thing where they throw and bowl with opposite hands.

Nivethan Radhakrishnan who plays for Tassie is naturally a right handed thrower but can bowl with both hands but that's not exactly what you were asking for.

QDK has become the player to score the most ODI centuries toppling Sangakarra in 80 fewer innings, though SA struggled to 270 after his 106 off 89 deliveries.
