Not really surprised. They didn't even update the AFLW girls headshots this year when you go their player profile. They're all photo's from last season and this years rookies have the default cut out head. The AFLW's official page has the players updated at least.

We are.

But the turnover we've had and the early quality we've added and the potential we've got recovering from injury all suggests that if a few things go right (injuries, development, retention etc.) then we could be a surprise packet in a few years.

Depends on how horrible is viewed, I guess.

Whilst this year was clearly worst on record for W/L, I come out of it feeling way more confident than the previous 2 years that were finally moving in the right direction and we've now got more high end talent on the list to look forward to than just Harley and Ginbey(with respects to Hewett being injury riddled early).

Despite clearly fielding a younger side this year, we didn't once lose by 100, were competitive in matches against finalists before fading away late and there were some patches that the team looked genuinely elite, with Brisbane at the Gabba one of those.

Do that more consistently next year and we'll surprise a few.

Oh 100%

If we improve even say 10% we are probably winning the North, Essendon games. With more runs in the legs we also probably not get over run in the last qtr by Geelong, Adelaide and even maybe early season Brissy.

That’s 6 wins. Which would be our best season in years and a sign we are moving in the right direction. But it’s also very easy to see us out of finals for atleast another 3/4 years

For whatever reason the main format update is done by someone else (Telstra) not by the clubs

Its frustrating as hell because you get stupid out of date shit like this which the clubs get blamed for

A blast from the past. Who remembers Inside 50, hosted by a young Thumper and Rhys Anderson. This was the very first upload on the West Coast Youtube channel, reviewing our win against North which was the debut games of Darling and Gaff with Shuey in only his 5th game.

Remember that game so fondly, Gaff getting sat on his ass as soon as he came on . And in the blink of an eye all of them almost 300 game players, premiership players and All-Australians...oh the sands of time..

And North, once again, running our asses close in Perth. They seem to be always tough outs when they come here.

Last time the Eagles had the oldest list in the comp was 2017 - and that was somewhat skewed by having Mitchell and Petrie on the list for just that year.

We were second in 2020 fourth in 2022, 10th in 2023, 16th last year and 17th this year.

So really in about five years from near the oldest to the youngest.

Probably a good lesson for use going forward again.

The travel burden is a massive factor that seriously impacts players longevity. We don't have the luxury to have a Collingwood-esk dinosaur list.

We need to make the hard decisions on players who are approaching the cliff earlier, while they still have capital

Maybe, just maybe, if more teams took the MFC approach and called out the third party the AFL might feel a little embarrassed and do something to fix the issue.
