2026 Pre-Season Thread

We have won 5 of the last six preseason games since 2020. Only loss to the Crows by 3 points last year.
Fagan does tend to play very close to our best side in this official game

Some traffic problems coming up for this first official preseason game.

its easy to fall into the trap of thinking every player you have is amazing when the team is performing at a very high level, but wilmot is a very impressive speaker. already seems to be taking new players under his wing and helping them settle in / get acclimatised to an afl environment. its hard to say which of the young players will captain the club one day, but he is as good a candidate as any.

I am holding expectations on Coleman as he has not played much footy for a long time.
By the 2026 OR game, Coleman will have played just 2 AFL games in 890 days

Having him available and hopefully playing at any level is a bonus going into 2026.
One positive should be his body strength should have developed over his time not playing.
Just needs to get miles into his legs and fitness level up to AFL standard.
Fitness to run out games was about his only deficiency in 2023.

Motty's media conferences as Captain would certainly be entertaining. Dunno if he has it in him to stick to the company line.

Jfc. Wish the club was putting out more content on preseason. I also follow the GCS on popular social media platforms and they are pumping it. Even just little snippets, and while that content might not have the depth I crave, it keeps my engagement up. It’s good to see the development of the players and even some small insights into Dimma and his coaching philosophies.

Lions… maybe one pic or vid a day which is just a crossover from AFL or Lions website articles. It’s not like we aren’t b2b premiers and in an insanely envious position in the comp to grow online presence etc etc. crickets

You’re right that it’s not our business. But it will be if it affects the playing group and affects the clubs tilt at a third flag.

I always thought there wasn’t much between the ears with Lach, but this is next level.
