Poor old Susan can’t get the timing and intonation right. Fake anger is hard to pull off when you’re not a trained actor.

Margaret, it’s a half a star out of 5 performance from me.

Ha! LNP Policy seems to closely follow events on Home and Away, actually. Here is a Home and Away train wreck

and here is LNP policy

How do you survive a political train crash? Easy. Don't vote LNP.

And when they want to go hunting?

You have no interest in hunting, sport shooting or land management so you would have that attitude.... however not everyone has the same interests/lifestyle....EG i have absolutely no interest in going to the beach. I see it as highly dangerous with numerous deaths every year....however i wouldn't ever support even the slightest restrictions for people who enjoy that lifestyle just because of my own feelings.
This may shock some, but this is how I feel as well. I'm not pro-gun by any stretch of the imagination but nor am I anti-gun. I think secure gun clubs acting as central hubs with safes where people can go and take their firearms out for the weekend are fine, or in remote areas a license being partly conditional on your home having a verifiable secure gun safe so little fingers can't find them.

I don’t really agree. As much as that’s the sentiment of choice for western leaders, it’s just their cowardice. Calls for unity after something like this are part of how they justify not doing anything meaningful. Terrorists must find it hilarious every time civilians are murdered in the streets and the response is just the main population being pre-emptively told off for their bigotry.
Yeah, we can certainly agree to disagree here.

This is exactly why we need a federal royal commission. But Albo is scared of doing so... We dont actually know what failed. However, in any organization, leadership must take responsibility and accountability for what happens under your watch. Part of that is ensuring you activate any and every pathway to investigate independently and transparently. Especially in government, because it is often far more autocratic than most organizations in terms of deciding what will and won't be placed in front of parliament.
I disagree.

The NSW Government called for a state based RC and Albanese said he'd give them whatever support they needed, which obviously includes access to federal agencies etc etc. If they fail to deliver a RC then he can step in with a federal one and say the situation demands it but so many of the details of this attack hinge on state power - gun laws, police response on the day, NSW police actions regarding extremism etc etc.

Also a RC takes ages, and if one's happening anyway an immediate inquiry into what went wrong with the executive arms that failed to protect people in Bondi will be more likely to get better repsonses and improvements faster than waiting for a RC to give recommendations.

Albanese responding to a horrific act of terror committed by Islamists, radicalised on our shores and in our communities is now talking about "stamping out" Islamaphobia, including "stamping out fear" that (allegedly) causes Islamaphobia.

The mask is slipping, he is letting his authoritarian roots show. And there are those in here who still think this pathetic, despicable excuse for a leader gives a f* about protecting Australian lives. He has made it clear, it is not the lives of those who died last weekend that matters, it is not Australian values that matters, it is not your life that matters - it's making sure "Islamaphobia" is "stamped" out.

Authoritarian, far left, Islamist dictator.

Gay hatred too
For sure.

Its just flat out bigotry by people trying to capitalise on the result of people taking bigotry to its absolute extremes.

But attacking Penny Wong immediately after saying "MuLtIcUlTuRaL NirVaNa HaS fAiLeD!!!" is a pretty blatent dog whistle to scum**** racists.

Unity in the face of extremism is what they hate the most, G. A strong multicultural nation that includes rather than one that rejects and excludes, which is what the extremists would like us to do.

Regress into division and hate and the extremists have won. Stand together and they lose, big time.
This is a noble hope, but what evidence have you that this works? As far as anyone can see, all evidence points to a decrease in monoculturalism aligning with decreased trust and increased violence.

"Standing together" and being soft on fundamentalist Islam - an ideology that wants to destroy us - is what led to last weekends events, and what has led to the fall of Europe.

You're the only one seeing race with Penny Wong. Shows the typical bigotry of a left-wing individual, everything is always about race with you lot. Penny Wong is a failure, it has nothing to do with her race.

Exactly. I know my feelings against the Far Right/Racist right are by magnitudes more extreme than most on this board, but even a more moderate progressive can see how much of a yawning chasm there now is between our two warring viewpoints.

It's not going to end well.

As by its nature it cannot co-exist with 'competing' structures or disparate beliefs religious fundamentalism is a tenet of the Far Right/Racist Right. An enemy to be faced and an enemy to be quashed.

But only one among many.

Albo doesn't want a RC as the results would likely come out heading into the next election and Labor might not emerge in a very good light. Always one eye on the next election, Albo.

It is literally all he cares about, he is a deceitful despot.

Actions speak louder than words. Just how is going to "stamp out" Islamophobia and "eradicate" Antisemitism? How? Give us a clue, Anthony.

Isn't this the core of the election cycle though? As soon as one is done another is in front of you. The next election is always there.

He will attack political opponents and shut down speech online. It is all he knows, criminalise right wing voices while patting the backs of Islamic fundamentalists.

Hence a Royal Commission is exactly what he doesn't need!

Politicians should actually care about serving the people, and not serving themselves by focusing on their re-election.

Albo hasn’t provided access to federal agencies officially as yet from my reading.

I get the barriers with RC. However I also do not feel overly confident that we there will be enough analysis into the federal governments actions leading up to this regarding anti semetic threat.

Ah, another balanced, rational and not at all hysterical take for which you've become so well known here 🤡:tearsofjoy:

None of that would have prevented Bondi. None at all.

You already need a verifiable secure gun safe, I’ve had the firearms officer inspect mine.

Sign it out for the weekend and just leave it on the bench at home? Or do people still need an empty gun safe at home to store? Can I still use a family members firearms if I have a respective firearms licence?

So what if I want to go away for a week hunting? What about if I’m travelling Australia hunting along the way?

It’s the narrow minded city attitude that I find so ridiculous. Its easy to be blaze’ about this stuff when it doesn’t affect your life, but the details are important and so far it all sounds completely impractical and ridiculous.

PS. I support non citizens being banned from owning firearms licences.

You would get more respect from city folk if you were hunting with a bow and arrow.

Champ needs to seriously log off, take a long walk, have a shower and gain a clue.
