He's just too vanilla, a player who'll finish his career doing nothing.

Which is actually pretty sad in this case, because he's got all the attributes that many who want to be in his position dream of. Height, body size, versitility, centre of mass, and it will all go to waste. Pathetic really.
I don't think he's that vanilla I think he needs to learn to mark the ball properly. Gets into the right spot only to drop a hot potato that is actually cold

I agree with you about 80%.

Not the pathetic bit. Wright is clearly a hard worker and cares about the resulta

And not correct to say he has done nothing. He’s had some good seasons and some high points and will likely have more ahead.

But I do share your feelings about wasted potential. Has a lot of the tools to be one of the greats but can’t quite put it all together consistently.

Feels like a lot is mental. Such a shame he got rubbed out for crumpling that swan. Would have loved to see a period of hardnut 2 metre Peter.

I think some of it is also he is he lacks actual strength. He is a big unit and we expect big guys like him to be strong but some just are not. My observation is he has average core strength and as far as physical strength goes he is also average.
Like you say he is a hard worker off field and he prepares as well as anyone but it just looks like power is not in his DNA.

Yep, agreed. Reckon he would bench and squat some big weights but it’s not that dynamic power.

The core strength issues show up when he is knocked off his line more easily than you would expect. I think they are also the major reason he drops so many balls he gets his hands to. He has nice soft hands when on the lead but can’t maintain that under contact.

He reads the ball well and has awesome reach, excellent endurance, is a great set shot. Could be kicking 80 goals a year if he held an extra mark or two a game.

No, he'll be noted for the thousand times he brings the ball to ground for the skeeta fleet of Kako, Huss and Unwin to kick goals from. Thousand assists Peter. No shame in that.
