Love hearing the continued news about Fawcett, it will force Armstrong and Faull work a lot harder for a spot if this guy continues to impress the coaches.

A few here are very quick to write him off because he isn't one of our "big named draftees".

I gave him some criticism after a VFL game where he seemed to get caught up in the Bauer mentality. At that point I wondered whether he had the character to make it.

However, I thought he matured in his play as the season progressed, and Richmond were obviously happy to give him another year. The training reports are really encouraging.

I find it hard to predict his future. I suspect we are all going to find out a lot more about him this season. He is still only 20yo. Bearing in mind he is likely to have a lot of improvement to come after this season, I think what we are realistically looking for in his 3rd season as a key forward is performance not too far below average for an AFL key forward. That would be around that Membrey/Hayden McLean 2025 level. If he produces that level of footy then he could have a pretty decent future.

He'll be fine along as tiger_tough still doesn't rate him

Agree…can only be a good think to have upward pressure…reports about Liam have been very positive so far

Don't have an issue with Hops, I have issue when the club thinks it's a good idea to play Taranto, Hopper & Prestia in the middle all together for most of the matches.

If we rock up to round 1 and that's how we line up for the first bounce then I'll be on the negative Nelly train all year.

Plenty of people spent 2025 questioning Serpell and his training programs due to the constant soft tissue issues, especially in the younger guys, yet here we are the first week of training for 2026 and a lot of players are matching or bettering their PBs in the Bronco test, a lot of the younger guys are looking much more developed physically while some of the older guys seem to have slimmed down to also be in the best shape they have been in for a few years.

It's a timely reminder that results aren't always immediate when implementing new programs and there will be set backs along the way as bodies adapt to the new loads being placed on them.

Now I'm not saying that everything is going to go smoothly and we're not going to have any more soft tissue issues, but I'm quite confident that we'll see a team that is better placed to run out games this year as opposed to last year. We still may hit the wall in the 2nd half of the season as a long season catches up with those 1st/2nd year guys but the drop off won't be as bad as we saw in 2025.
its about management and not killing the kids base. not backing the slicer to manage loads based on previous. will wait and see

hopper can get as fit as he wants but hes slow and a turnover merchant.

Hopper is better than Taranto.
