I don't like the idea of Australia paying 1 billion dollarsfor a board seat, so hopefully we don't pursue this.

If that money is spent directly on aid and rebuilding Gaza, with no Trumpian or Netanyahu middleman grift. I'm cool with that.

Marque Lawyers gotta be one of the more ignorant people on the planet.

Not surprising that's where you get your opinions from.

hey dingleberry, marque lawyers is one of the most successful highly regarded law firms in sydney, and the managing partner, michael bradley, has a brilliant mind. waaaaaay above your head.

we shouldn't have any part of this israel inspired setup. look at whose on the board. the billion will go to the trump greed fund. it should be put together by a genuine international body. not a u.s/israel hoax. it's sole function should be to rebuild gaza and return all palestinians to their homeland. and the funds should come overwhelmingly from those who caused the destruction - israel and america.

then come the reparations.

your utter ignorance is mind-boggling. now little man, go play with your toys.
Lol, great example of the Dunning-Kruger here. You know nothing about law firms so you think this far left moron who runs a shitty high street firm with a crap website and a bunch of Australian small businesses as clients is a "highly regarded law firm" in Sydney, and you say that I am ignorant?

To put it into perspective for things you may understand, Marque Lawyers would be like a decent local amateur footy club. And you've described them as "highly regarded" as if they were the Sydney Swans.

You are so ignorant you don't even know it.

getting sucked into that Israel setup would not only be appalling judgment, the repercussions domestically would be huge.

this

And now Putin has been invited to have a seat at "The Spoils of War" board.
What a pathetic joke.
Albanese doesn't even have to take the time to consider this. Marles, on the other hand, would sell his arse to the devil to suck up to Trump.

Can you imagine the pressure (both overt and covert) if Albanese, or any Australian PM, would be under from Trump, Netanyahu and both pro and anti Israel lobby groups if we went anywhere near this thing.

We shouldn't go anywhere near this or anything the Orange Hitler puts his hands on.

He really needs to dig deep in his bag for this one and muster all his skills for avoidance that he seems to have mastered over a long political career.

The same strategy any decent parent uses to deny their kids getting everything thing they want just because they throw a tantrum in the chockies isle at the supermarket.

‘I’ll think about it.’

I think the issue of mass protests is one they'd like to avoid.

Even major Zionist pressure groups or the Liberal party within Australia would do well to avoid (the latter of course being too dumb to realise this).

You are basically tying yourself to any Trump catastrophe and likewise the idea that the current and any future conflict is about rich foreign politicians and property barons ala Trump and his family, using genocide, the pretext of sectarian conflict and war to clear land for shitty casinos and Everglades style gated communities.

That presupposes Labor understands how much of an impact Trump's election and first few months in office had on our election, and don't just think the voters finally came around and realised how good their policies were.

Relatively speaking, Albanese came out very strongly against Trump's mega-tariffs being "not the act of a friend". It might seem pretty pedestrian, but I can't recall an Australian PM ever being that critical on record of the current US government and its President.

It gives me a fair bit of faith that Albanese understood that public opinion would be with him when he made those comments and that he's pretty keen to keep Trump at arm's length as best he can, while straddling that line of not being too openly antagonistic to him.

thought we only pay if we want to stay beoynd the initial 3 years, or am I reading it wrongly
that said I doubt that peace is the goal

The PM isn't going to agree to the Board of Peace. The inclusion of the likes of Putin gives him plenty of political cover to politely decline.

It's also an attempt to replace the UN with Trump as permanent Secretary-General. While I think the UN could use reform, it is not beyond saving and certainly not with the proposed replacement.
