Lions are very well placed, 3 teenagers plus 5 other players aged 22 and under played in the Semi Final v the Suns ie. Ty Gallop, Levi Ashcroft, Sam Marshall, Logan Morris, Will Ashcroft, Jaspa Fletcher, Darcy Wilmot and Kai Lohmann. Daniel Annable another top 5 rated player to come in through the Academy system this off season.

Plus the likes of McCluggage, Rayner, Bailey, Berry, Answerth, Payne, Coleman with at least 5 years left in them.

The last 3 premiership sides are truly alive and there is 75% chance one of them wins it again.

If Brisbane make the GF and repeat this year, they could become a dynasty, a 3 peat is not out of the question.

If Collingwood wins it that is 2 from 3 years, are they a dynasty?.

Geelong after winning it in 2022 are in a good position to grab a flag this year and maybe another after that. I picked Geelong to win it this year at the start of the season. An extremely focused and superbly balanced team all over the ground.

Hawthorn will have a chance but will have to find other options at scoring goals. Gunston is 35 years old despite having a career best season but won't be around forever. They can win it from 8th this season, they did win 15 games in the minor round though the most wins for an 8th placed team.

If Adelaide can get their game together, but will need better midfield mentality and a new coach may help esp if they stuff up 2026. But traditionally they don't handle things well when it all goes south and unlikely to become a dynasty.

Expect Sydney back in the 8 next year, that could be good news.
Cats winning it this year would be a bit like Hawthorn winning it 2013 after 2008. Less of a gap in this case but half of the team is different. Selwood, Hawkins, Touhy, I.Smith, Rohan, Kolo, Guthrie, Parfitt, Duncan, Bews and Stanley won't be playing in the prelim and only Stanley would be a shot if we made the grand final.

Its the 20's that means a Collingwood 4peat!

Brisbane have enough class in the gigantic midfield group to win 3-4 flags across the next decade.

They just need the tentpoles to hold up the roof and the cups will come.

Hard to say who else has a shot. Equalisation has bit t en somewhat after decades in place, so while the rich clubs tend to stay up there's more of a turnover, and even former behemoths can spend time in the doldrums eg Carlton, Essendon maybe Eagles etc.

Not beyond the realms of possibility.

Had a solid off season at trade and draft, list better spread, coaching and game plan refresh

They could jump, let’s remember they weren’t far way end of 23, and feel apart during 2nd half of 24.

Last season was the reality check they needed

23 was the outlier, not the combined 20 years that preceded and proceeded it.

Tassie after 2030 tho.

For now its got to be anything Queensland related with that academy up there.

Cant see anything in Victoria really other then the Pies squeezing another flag in before say 2030.

Not much doing in Vic to be honest.

I can see either Freo or Crows also getting on somewhat of a roll.

Most Vic teams are rebuilding or about too.

Maybe Sydney but i think they have thrown the dice already 2022 and 2024.

Kind of a petering out for teams success now.

Holding pattern for anything dynasty related.

Brisbane call an era.

But i don't have them winning the flag in 2026.

More likely their next door neighbour in the Suns in 2026.

Could it be Collingwood finally have the modern day dynasty they had to have and get on a string of flags kind of the modern day 1920s

Remember when footy fans thought GC & GWS were going to dominate most of the 2010s because of the league entry draft access that was given? Yeah, I remember that. As it turns out, the two newest expansion teams have managed just one GF appearance in their 15/16 years in the AFL and now we're about to see another expansion club join with plenty of league entry draft access of their own.

Making an AFL GF is very hard these days and winning one is even harder. Nothing is guaranteed, no matter how much help you're given and that's because there's way more to winning at the highest level than just the players you're able to recruit. There's so much that needs to go right in order to climb the mountain in modern footy and both GC + GWS have proven over their years in the league that just accumulating high end talent alone won't get you there. Everything has to be on point top to bottom and most of that has very little to do with draft access. People seriously underestimate how important it is for the club to be run well in order for the team to achieve the ultimate prize.

The reaction around here to the news of Fagan's presentation has surprised me. Father/Sons this, Academies that, rorts blah blah blah.

Your points seem to reflect the real lessons coming from Fagan and other successful clubs, and that is get it right across other aspects of your organization and a teams performance on field will tend to improve as well.

There are still clubs dining out on achievements from last century whinging about interstate clubs. They would be better off dropping the self-proclaimed victimhood status and studying closely how professional clubs are run these days to give teams the opportunity to compete consistently at the top.
