JOM is playing and we need to accept that

That's not ideal for Cooper. Probably puts to bed any chance of him lining up in Round 1.

I have no issues with JOM. Started the 2025 year off quite well then injury and didn’t get back to the early season level.

Rd 1 - 31 possessions
Rd 2 - 32 possessions
Rd 3 - Inj

Rd 19 - 24 possessions
Rd 22 - 26 possessions

Had some decent late season games but lost form in the two games leading to finals and was very average in the final. Needed to have a very good PS to retain his spot and from all reports had had one of his best PS.

Ras must have a couple of goals if the reporting is correct. Ashleigh Nelson (Ch 10) posted that he kicked the 1st and Schmook just said he got another before the end of the 3rd quarter.

Addendum to this is that AN doesn't have Murray down for a goal for the Purple team. She's either missed it or credited it to Jackson or Treacy.

Edit. Yes she has the goal to Murray. Reading further, I see she's reporting the scores and GK's per quarter rather than cumulative score and Ras must have changed colours from Purple to White.

honestly, loving him as a recruit. really wanted Mannagh before the Cats snatched him and he performed for them

we do well with VFL mature-agers. i predict good things for this guy.
Snatched him?

We took Simpson, Cats took Managh with the next pick.

You make your own destiny.

don't get me wrong, i rate and like Simpson and he's gonna matter for this squad/team, already shown plenty to be excited about. was a great pick.

the point was, in that draft, I thought it would've been ace to pick up a starting 23-ready, mature-bodied player who could immediately perform at the level, which Mannagh absolutely did for the Cats. i hoped Mannagh would last to our next pick but Cats obviously saw his value.

Walls etc just had different priorities. not disappointed with Simspon at all.

My man Hayden Young taking training seriously.

SOME MORE MATCH SIM NOTES HERE via CH 7 NEWS  (posting the text below for those who can't click on X to expand the full quote)

Purple v White. Even mix of teams.

W Mids - Cox, Erasmus, Brayshaw, Young, NOD, Wagner, Sharp

P Mids - Darcy/Cossor, Serong, Bolton, Murphy, Jackson, Johnson, JOM

Luke Jackson (P) played mostly on the ball and forward. Wasn’t until late he took any ruck stoppages. Found plenty of it and kicked a nice goal. Darcy only played the first quarter - even after he went off - Peel ruck Toby Cossor was used often instead of Jackson.

Mason Cox (W) looked really good. Played the entire game as his team’s sole ruck without a break. Winning most contests and covering the ground beautifully. Dockzilla szn?

Jordan Clark (W) started half back flank, driving the ball out of the backline. Then lined up a few times on the wing late, looked good but found less of it.

Judd McVee (P) started quiet but found a bit of it late as the main distributor. Heath Chopman (W) looked awesome too.

Erasmus (W) and Reid (P) found a lot of it. The big guys (Serong, Brayshaw, Young) also did, but also never really got out of second gear.

Both teams looked more happy to spread the ball by foot compared to last year (Freo ranked 2nd last for marks in 2025). Not necessarily slower, just more controlled ball movement.

No Cooper Simpson (hip soreness).

Sean Darcy only playing a quarter is a bit of a concern. All reports had him as healthy as ever in the lead up. Surely they're not managing his workloads yet?

Snatched him by taking him about 20 picks earlier than he was expected to go because
Expected by who? Outside the first round predicting where players are selected is pretty hit and miss. The difference between pick 30 and 40 is marginal in terms of draft ranking.

Clubs are more likely to factor in list needs than rankings.

Geelong traded to get a pick between our two second round picks, thinking we were a chance to take Mannagh at 41. That's typical draft strategy when clubs are focussed on list needs.

Fun fact, in the BigFooty Phantom Draft that season, Mannagh was picked at #46, and Simpson at #47.

Ollie Murphy went at #16! Jack Delean at #49.
