Player Watch #6: George Wardlaw - hamstring injury in '26 preseason is minor, club says expected to be right for R1 - pulled up sore in VFL praccy, same spot

A Pies supporting mate truly believes our issues are inherited. Kevin White left the Pies and the next year they play in a GF. He was so frustrated with the lack of availability of players and ability to run both ways the previous season. I am no expert but its not like you would say we are one of the fitter sides going around
I am going to go out on a limb and suggest Big Kev is in the bottom 3 people paid for his equivalent role in the AFL. I think his injury management has been ok at north. His fitness preparation program however has not been up to scratch. How he has avoided questions around his performance to date is baffling.

Didn't Rhyce Shaw have the same concerns when he first got to the club? It didn't work out but he was coming from clubs that thrive on fitness and was apparently shocked at the fitness level of our list. I don't know any of this first hand but I do recall him being a bit bemused.

It’s under investigation like the Luke Sayers incident to determine who did upload that D*ck Pic. Maybe we need Dillon to send across his crack Integrity Unit to do some digging. More to come…..
The AFL has a "crack" integrity unit who's job it is to investigate dick pick.

Some things never cease to amaze me!

It’s actually the ‘perception management’ unit.

I’ve come to find I don’t care why he played, if he didn’t injure it now I’m certain it would’ve been round 1 anyway
That puts it down to bad luck mate.

I'd hope our S&C/rehab guys could evaluate and learn from the failure.

George probably wont play until round 4 against the Blues on Good Friday. Why rush him given the history. Hammy issues for 6 years now. Started having issues when he was 16.

Not the same guys in the fitness department I know, but, this is a similar path as T Garner. He would get his troublesome hamstrings right in the latter part of a season to then take his hard earned xmas break. On the resumption of full training and praccy games he would break down and be out for months.
I wonder if he had of kept consistently training 'hard' through those breaks whether he would have been right to go at the beginning of a season.
The break doesn't suit a lot of players.
