On the bright side at least this happened round 2 and none of have to carry our delusions beyond this, hopefully this includes the players
Yep. Imagine if we were sweating on beating this mob in the final game of the season to land tenth and play finals!!! Oh, so darn close! But alas, no cigar.

The fact that I hadn’t the heart to watch it live and went to the movies, I didn’t have to go through the angst. From this distance, it wasn’t nearly the disaster you’re all thinking right now. WC were expected to show something at home. Onward to next week…

Bullshit.

If we can't beat the sides expected to be below us on the ladder, where does our improvement come from? We were 30 points up late in the 1st quarter and completely and utterly capitulated.

So has anyone seen the press conference? Let me guess:

"West Coast were always gonna come out for their first home game and try to atone for the big loss to GC"
"This comp is so even, you just need to be off 10% and you get jumped"
"Progress isn't linear"
"Something something Hawthorn 2005"
"Something something Brisbane 2016"
I think you’ve nailed it 👌

Good call not watching it, but you didn't see what we saw. We got smashed for two quarters, absolutely smashed by a team full of teenagers and has-beens who won a single game last year. All because we decided that one quarter is enough. We're all just so sick of it.

Glad you enjoyed the game.
Enjoy is a stretch but some great signs in the 1st and 4th. Overall match quality was eons better than previous North v Eagles clashes (try watching last year's for a refresher if you're a sicko).

We've improved at about the same rate as the Eagles, they just have a bloody tough home deck advantage.

Only pissed our joke of a club wants to lose matches by playing home games at opposition venues. We'd beat West Coast in Melbourne but have to settle for schedule losses for some sweet, sweet cash. Not the way to build a winning kulcha I'd have thought.

This is not a talent issue and kids growing up issue. Its definitely a psychological issue. Someone needs to get into their heads, and fast.

We were shit and we deserved to lose, but some general stuff.

We are still totally reliant on winning stoppages to score or stay in games.
We are still unable to transition the ball out of defense.
We are better at stopping the opposition's transition. This may just be that we have played two weak teams, but our pressure and team defense seems much better than last year.

As I see it, we either need two or three more ball carriers in the back half, or our midfielders need to start working their arses off and carrying the ball themselves. Comben, our main inceptor, can't kick. Daniel, supposedly our back half playmaker, can't run or kick more than 40m.

Polish it as much as you like - 30 points up then lose to a team that won one game last year.

Caracas just happy to get the weekly e-mails and social content from the club...all is well!

Shizenhousen. Great start to the game, moved the ball well, hit targets, looked dangerous up forward, pressure was good.

When they lifted in the second quarter our game plan fell apart, senior players made a tsunami of errors, nobody stepped up to steady the ship.

We ended up with 46 clearances to 37 (17 vs 14 for CCs), we just kept turning it over under pressure and they scored A LOT from our mistakes.

A problem we have in the middle is when LDU has an off quarter/game, it is a complete power outage, nobody steps up. FOS is too young and inexperienced in the midfield role, I think he will become the best of our young group but he still needs time.

It is these kind of games that Powell needs to step up. Harry continued to get a lot of the ball but he has low hurt factor atm because there is nobody running aggressively when the chips are down and nobody willing to do some 1%ers so he can get on the outside.

We just can't go into games with no inside mids and expect to get a great outcome from a high pressure slog, in the end we lost the contested possessions 139 vs 159 and we would have had a good lead at quarter time.

We have too many samey mids atm, looks okay when it is on our terms but when the heat is on they wilt. If LDU, Sheezle and FOS aren't getting the job done who thinks Simpkin, Powell, Daniel, Konstanty, etc are going to be the ones to turn the tide?

I think Wardlaw would make a massive difference, but if we don't have Wardlaw we need to field some guys that can turn the heat up. Most of the guys we have on the periphery are complete marshmallows.

I don't have a dislike for Powell, Konstanty, etc but we need players with a significant point of difference that can step up when we need them to, we do not need some more of the same but less effective. We currently have too much expectation on LDU carrying the midfield group or it goes completely to shit. We need a more balanced midfield with a wider combination of strengths.

WA supporter here and at the game today. It's a tough ground to win at. The crowd gets going and the WCE almost have an extra man on the field. It was bloody hot in the sun which is the bright yellow thing in the sky if you are from VIC. Reading the comments there is so little hope, but I dont see it that way. We are in the process of phasing out McDonald and Simpkin who would struggle in an other team.
Young Dovatson is just a season away from being ready. A bit too lean atm.
Konstanty is not up to AFL standard but we have lot to positive about. The spread in the first quarter was sublime.
By the end of the year, mark my words, Will Dawson, Spargo, Wardlaw and Hardeman will imposing themselves and we will be on our way.
Chin up.

Also **** the idiot west coast fans for booing a champion of there club
Hey - sincerely, I come in peace. Was just lurking (because it has been a very very long time between drinks for us).

This will sound like fan/nuffie stuff - honestly, that was very muted compared to what we're capable of. You have to remember it's 95% homer energy - that was, in the context of that crowd, positively polite. Agree with your broader point though.

Condolences about the result (really), but you lot have turned a corner. Last week was jolting to see.

They just pushed the ball outside as much as possible knowing they would torch us. The fact our inside mids were ineffective made it worse
