Id happily give Parker as many years as he wants, so too Darling. The impact they've had since coming over has been immeasurable on our young crew.

Id offer Parker a 2 year contract with the lure of a development coaching position. Same as JD on a 1 year deal, however id imagine he'd want to move back to Perth.
Id wait until the end of the year to decide

I think Hawthorn is where we should be sticking our nose in. I think Calsher Dear is the prototype AFL athlete. If he doesn’t make it as a forward he could have a future at CHB. He’d unlikely get that opportunity at Hawthorn.

Calsher Dear will not leave Hawthorn

My Blues mate/best man Paul recovered enough to speak to me. He thinks this is our ‘bumps year’ (ups and downs) setting us up for next year being our bump year (finals footy).

He reckons if we had trusted our athleticism earlier in the game we could have broken them but that for three quarters we got so focused on the need to compete inside to limit their strength that we forgot to also exploit our own strengths. He said in Q4 we had guys that took accountability e.g. Wardlaw’s intensity, LDU’s running power, Harry & Zane’s brains, Bath’s bravery, Parker’s craft etc.

As for his Blues, he sees the good in their play when they can control the contest, manage the tempo and play within their structure ball in hand. He doesn’t think they have many if any game breakers unlike us. Their inability to hold leads is as much about that as any mental frailty. They simply don’t have players who flash individual inspiration that can wrestle back control. In his view their best is like the Pies without any Daicos magic dust.

Yeah that's a good call.

Our club needs to sniff around Butts….

A KPD to future proof. I like Mraz at Hawks and would also be a good target I think.

Half back flanker with defensive mind. Ash the obvious one but sure there is afew out there. Goater and Archer to injury prone currently to back them in. Would answer our problem but unlikely to.

Out side of that we are moving fairly well forward.
Thredgold may be the replacement for Pink or Logue long term

So I went back and watched the game multiple times because that’s what I like to do and rewatched the last with an emphasis on watching individuals.

Sheezel wasn’t amazing in the last. The exception being his goal. The first goal for Carlton at Center bounce where he didn’t follow well leading to clean clearance for Walsh I think it was early.
Parker was an absolute monster on the game in that last. Disposal and defensive efforts were incredible.
Wardlaw obviously had the highlights and every contest he was around he managed to either pressure and create a stoppage. A couple of things that would go unnoticed is just finger tipping a ball to make the player fumble enough to give time for another player to tackle.
The Bath is an absolute find. His goals were great but his ruck work and follow up were just as good.
Special mention to Curtis and Bull. If you rewatch that last qtr closely they both impact heavily in the F50 and caused a lot of stoppages and pressured exits.

Genuinely a good time rewatching that last quarter

We need to secure our lads first and foremost, but if we continue to show signs (yes I know it was Carlton and we’ve lost to the Eagles) we could be somewhat of a destination. The belief of the players, upward trajectory (even if there’s slight blips) and cash to offer, it’s the perfect opportunity. The long waited success could be just around the corner (yeah we’ll probably throw it away, but I’m excited so I can dream haha)!

We need get a player in similar to impey - can run , fly in the air , courage and can do it all

We can’t compete for the big names - we need to target the mid rangers , that have the ability to lift their games.

I think Logie had that potential, looks like Stephens is getting there. Fisher and Daniel are to that probably most knew they’d played their best football.

We need to look at these types and make the right decisions or go the state league route

Midfield is stacked with elite young talent. Confident they’ll be a top four midfield.

Forward line of Larkey, Bath, PC, Durs, Dova and a pressure forward can be very dangerous.

Our entire focus for trading needs to be on defence.
It's still an unaccountable midfield. FOS the only one you can trust to get to the right spots defensively. Don't mind the idea of adding Urquhart eventually and minimising the midfield time of one or a couple of others

I keep getting this at work. Its only Port and Essendon blah blah blah. Well we played all of them the last 9 years and managed to continue to lose. You can only beat whats in front of you and we are doing that now.
8-10 wins is achievable from here and it would make us sexier for a FA or 2

Got an idea regarding Jed Walter.

Sell him the dream of being our key FB/CHB along with Threadgold for the next 10 years.

6’5 in the old scale. Powerful, athletic, great hands, reads the play well and booming left peg.

Lots of KPF’s have gone back and become great backman, his bio screams gun KPB to me.

He will hang up faster than JHF decided to leave North after hearing Clarkson's plan to play him as a defender.

Walter is actually a good forward, they just have King in the way and he doesn't suit playing a different forward role.

He would be much better lead up forward than Larkey imo because he is a lot more aggressive and likes to hit packs hard. I think Larkey would play the secondary forward well. Combined with Trembath, Curtis, Duursma and Dovaston it would make our forward line pretty potent.

I think the fallout would be Zurhaar, his role wouldn't be there as it existed in the past if we were to bring in someone like Walter.

I don't see him coming regardless, but I think we should make it difficult for GC to keep their side together.

I think our pressing issue is the back line, until we have spots resolved, it is one of the worst back sixes we have ever fielded and one of the worst in the competition atm.

Weitering is who I’d dangling the carrot in front of. Perfect for us. Perfect
Have to ask the question. If they really shit the bed this year they may well go full on rebuild and be looking for first round draft picks. Already media talk around should they trade Cripps, they won’t, but if there’s even a 1% chance Weitering is gettable we should be first in line.

Would love to get Weitering, turns 29 this year but still has about 4-5 good years left. Would be the perfect addition to our backline to allow a Pink to play as a second defender and Chom to play the Intercept role.

Darcy Wilmot would also be a fantastic get, but it’s unlikely he leaves Brisbane anytime soon, and we’d be low on his list of home state suitors.
