Honestly, I think we need to put a line through Jones. Has been proven multiple times he is not up to it. Edwards is an unknown quantity but Dowling had numerous games where he has outperformed Jones' output. Flick Cook back to cover Hinge, Dowling to play HFF.
Not that keen on Bond, he just seems a bit panicky for me but he'd be the other option.
Butts in for Borlase
Not sure I'd pick Fog on form but we will if he's fit, will stuff our balance though unless we drop Finbar, but then TT is rucking which we dont want either.
Soligo could be rested I guess, not sure what is going on with his fitness or ability to get the ball but there must be something. Or he's turned into a potato.

There will be no need for three tall defenders. Muzza on Marshall/De Koning, Borlase on Sharman (193 cm) and Worrell picks up whoever is playing deep whether they are tall or small.

I would not rush back Big Butts due to his previous concussion problems. Nankervis takes Hinges spot in the back 6/7.

Similar story with Pedlar and Fog, neither has been in great form and a run in the Twos wouldn’t hurt. If we bring back Fog for Maley then we will need a second ruckman (gulp, ROB).

The final spot in the 23 goes to Dowling. I’m not convinced that Billy is the long term answer but he deserves a chance.

Out - Hinge

How long do you wait though? It doesn’t seem like it’s a tissue injury where an extra couple of weeks can help.
I’d assume if he’s passed to play they’d bring him back and Borlase would be very stiff.

Borlase on Sharman, please no, Sharman is way too lively and agile for Borlase not to mention his speed on the lead.

Harry McKay is way different proposition to Cooper Sharman, Worrell is his best match up.
And the last time Worrell played on the oppositions number one tall forward?

We all know that you don’t rate Borlase. How would you describe his performances over the last two weeks? Big Butts often struggles when returning from injury. I would prefer that he spends one week in the Twos to blow out the cobwebs.

Imho, the main dangers in the Saints forward line are their medium/small forwards.

I would hope if Sharman is playing full forward again it would likely be Nick Murray that lines up on him or perhaps Josh Worrell both far better suited to Sharman than Borlase.

Borlase if he plays Rowan Marshall would be a better match up for both Butts and Borlase.

I fear Soligo has been Nicksed.
He was a very keen tearaway when he started, then seemed to find his feet, is now a shadow of his earlier self.
OR
He's injured.
(fwiw, I couldn't have played in a team Nicks Coaches, at any level. He's just too bland for me.
Unimaginative. Predictable. Inflexible, and his selection policy which favours his chosen best-25, as well as backing in underperforming seniors would drive me nuts.)

P.S. I agree about Jones, sadly. I had big hopes for him :sadv1:.
Played out-of-position in the 2's for too long, then injured when he started to look like he might have made it.

Nice young fella, but he might have been Nicksed, too.

Soligo is coming off heart surgery, think he's going through fitness struggles.

Or just like Ned, Chayce was just never good enough. Jones always looked like a dear in the headlights when he got the ball, just doesnt have enough weapons outside of some decent speed. Jones, Ned and Hately, who we ended up with, were picked within 7 picks of each other. Wish we got that draft right. At least North matched our bid for Taryn Thomas.

Agree - Max to Sharman, only giving up 3cm.

Borlase to Owens perhaps? Again though, mobility may be the challenge.

Disagree with the Nicksed part. Jones was never good enough. Any position he played, he stunk.

Easy to blame the coach but I blame the recruiters.

He actually is the exact player he was when he started. Mostly anonymous, panicky and low iq.

Isn't that a coaching issue, or a development one ??

He wasnt an anonymous, panicked player in his junior days

That's a fair comment, thanks.
Like I said, I had high hopes for Jones but, yeah, he just doesn't have what it takes .

Ah yes, ok, I'd forgotten about that :thumbsu: .

Someone else posted before that it wasn't a serious procedure, but ... heart surgery?
Seriously, should he be playing AFL footy?
We do have a club doctor that cleared him!

Taryn Thomas was a better player than both of them put together, very talented and would've had a good career if he never ****ed up off the field.

This makes no sense.

Why couldn't we just bring Fog in and not drop Maley because you are suggesting if we drop Maley because Fog comes in, we would then need to bring another player in (Rob) to do the ruck because Maley isn't there anymore.

It sounds like he probably had a cardioversion to shock the heart back into normal rhythm, which is a day procedure where you go home the same day then have a day or 2 off work
