The biggest one way "runner" I've ever seen, but I'm putting runner in quotation marks cause he refuses to run. So one way "shuffler" might be more apt.

Absolutely petrified of contact too.

Pray that he has a few more games where he dominates at clearances, sell the dream of him being the "missing piece" to a team and **** him off.

that was an embarrassment. wasn't sure whether to tee-off on him or tsatas but i guess at least tsatas is young-ish. what a joke we set up a midfield around those two.

Thomas and Riewoldt were scathing of Parish on the 7 coverage and hard to disagree with what they said. If the coach is serious about improving team defence, then Parish cannot play until he improves that part of his game. I’d rather give Setterfield a try, he is not highly skilled but he is at least hard at it.

What were they going hard at parish over?

As bad as he was defensively at times the more shocking part was there were also times when he was putting in more effort to chase than several others.

He will never totally get defence. It is very easy to see why. You can watch him during games and see multiple times where he watches and tracks the footy and has no awareness whatsoever of players moving through his area. He watches and drifts across and the opposition just run behind him.

The more concerning thing for me was the fumbles and poor skill execution along with the habit he seems to have this year as far as short stepping a few contests. It is not something he had in his game when he was playing decent football 4 years ago. Simply cannot have any of it in his game if we have to carry the defensive issues.

A few of our players second guessed contests yesterday. Something that wasn't there in the Dees game.

Duursma in particular had a couple.

Maybe nerves on the big stage, lots of fumbles too. Pies relish the contest. It is between the ears.

I can’t easily recall more fumbles on a dry day than yesterday. Some of it pressure, some of it perceived pressure.

It was pretty clear McCrae's plan was to scrap the ball forward and deny us possession and time to get our short kicking game going. You could see the poor quality of their i50s in the first term especially was indicative of this. And because so many of our team are young they took a while to adjust to the Pies' intensity... they didn't adjust. Couple that with seniors fumbling or squibbing, and by the second term the pressure has been totally perceived by our team and Collingwood are finding more and more time while we also start jogging.

Tbh, fumbles aside, I didn't think our first quarter was too bad. We had some decent f50 entries and controlled our way in. Caddy with the yips early was unhelpful. Anyway, back to Parish... he's a jogger.

Old man who is a Pies fan said the same thing. Parish is the anti Leon Baker, usually one of his diabolical efforts or turnovers triggers a wave of goals for the opposition like vs Gold Coast where he refused to go to a ball despite it being a low physical risk situation because Rowell was nearby - it was a shocking non effort that triggered a run on for them.

He’s very risk averse now on top of no defending ability in his game. I get he just wants to have an injury free year but you still need to be competitive and win the ball. Do the team thing. That’s what you are paid to do. I gave this guy props last week saying he’s v2.0. I forgot the minus in front of it. I saw some serious squibbing yday.

Hoping he will turn up next week but hope is a risky thing.

should be dropped. Even with how shit the lost is, effort should be non negotiable
I am not sure I have seen worse efforts than some of the stuff he has dished up this year, the young guys can't see this stuff not punished as well. If Setters doesn't get injured training or walking the dog he can take Parish' place for the near future.

I’ll take fumbles and poor skill execution over someone who isn’t accountable and doesn’t run hard or put in consistent competitive efforts for his team.

Time to have a tough conversation with this guy and send him the twos for a long sting. We can't continue to carry players who cant be trusted.

ā€˜lol, they will never drop him, what an embarrassment’

….

ā€˜Managed? Yeah right, they’ve dropped him’

Man, I’m gonna miss watching him do what he does this weekend.

Him doing his thing and providing what he provides is a sight to behold.
