Arthur Jones from Dogs, a WA boy looks a likely type. Dogs will need to clear cap to fit Butters in.

Jones and Busslinger in? We have the picks that dogs may need to throw in to keep port happy.
Was just saying this yesterday to a mate that played footy against Arthur in Albany. Should be having a look

I think we need to offer Neale money so ridiculous that Brisbane and Freo’s offers are in a different postcode. The professionalism and confidence could be transformative.

He’s likely to be going through a divorce. Presumably he’ll have significantly less than 50% of asset pool. Surely money is going to be a major consideration for him.

Some on this board were in love with Flynn and had convinced themselves he'd still be No 1 ruck at whichever of the nepo baby clubs he came from if it wasn't for sheer dumb luck.

Was hilarious
Flynn’s stats were quite good before he came. But he was probably second choice for a reason.

Jones was in our academy and never signed on. Doubt he'd have any remote interest in playing for us.

Has anybody seen how Kayle Gerreyn has been playing for bombers? Are they playing him in defence? Out of contract at the end of year.

Broad, Neale and Busslinger in that order are the most likely players to end up Eagles in my view. Grim.

if getting Neale and busslinger means we have to have broad, then so be it.

and you know what, we need him to organise that backline. god knows Duggan isnt doing it.

so if its grim, what are options? we aren't going to have all the pieces together all at once.

It’s grim in the sense that we have so much cash to spend but can’t attract anyone young and talented. All those three would be more than useful TBH.

Neale would be fantastic.

Not sure about Broad and it's a definite no from me about Busslinger.
Neale a no brainer if he’s willing. I would honestly prefer Broad and Busslinger as KPDs to Young and Brock. I genuinely mean that. Still think our best bet is to pair 2 KPDs with sequential picks in the 2R. Or trade the later one for Dawson with something coming back.

I’m firming in the view we sign Briggs & Butts as UFA.

Additionally I think we should make a play for Leek Aleer. A late Second Rounder should be able to get it done.
I like him but I don't think a late second gets it done, he has been playing very well the last fortnight as their leaping ruck paired iwth Madden
Aleer is the guy we should’ve got instead of Young. We paid pick 38 for Young, GWS wanted an F2 from Saints for Aleer. Only 194cm but holds the combine record for running vertical (5cm higher than NicNat).

Interesting to see him playing that similar role to Mac Andrew in the last few weeks as second ruck out of defence.

With the uncertainly around Edwards we still need a big full back like Butts, but Ginbey and Aleer as 2nd/3rd talls would be an athletic sight to behold and a potential intercepting nightmare for the oppo.

The versatility to go through the ruck would be very valuable for us. If we lose BW and don’t land a competitive mature ruck then we don’t want to play Flynn.

If we are left with Archer as #1 ruck, I would feel better about it if there’s a few others that can chop out. If we had Archer, CDT, Walter and Aleer running a 45/25/15/15 split or similar, then it saves any of the youngsters getting banged up with large ruck minutes. Hell I’d even let Reubs have a crack at a D50 stoppage.

Plenty of KPF rotations and Jobe can rotate to defence when Aleer goes into the ruck. Gives a lot of positional flexibility and means we don’t have to give up a spot in the 23 for a pure ruck if our options end up being plodders and we already have a heap of talls in the side.

A genuine top line ruck is a good asset, but the mid range guys often add very little value other than breaking even at hit outs and providing a tall target down the line. Some creativity around the ruck rotations could save us the headache and perhaps give us better balance in the 23 (while most likely conceding the hit out battles which we already lose anyway).

Would much rather Borlase over Broad and Busslinger, who may get delisted from Adelaide or be available for fairly cheap trade wise if Butts stays.

Agreed with you though, we love ex Tigers, Broad probably comes here to stink it up.

Pretty clear we need to turn over 10-12 players again this year. Pick up 4-5 in the draft, a few rookies etc but who in their right mind with any ability would want to play for us??? The only players we are going to attract are "C" grade list cloggers from other clubs. Long road ahead....

If those 3 come in and help get a few extra wins, then 2027 like Cal is saying is our year. Warner, MG and Rivers.

I do think the Rivers trade might happen this year, we will be desperate to bring in another mature player and Dees will get a better return this year then next.

Ed Allan is another I think might happen. Not sure a move to the Dockers helps him be a best 23 player but he would start for us imo.

Any Busslinger reports from the weekend? I noticed Cench had him in the voting for one of the best defenders this weekend. Likely stays then if he is playing afl every week from here

With the way the AFL works you know the Blues will follow the Dees path (which looks successful in the small sample size) and trade or move on from some of their vets when they get a new coach.

I love Cripps but how does a Cripps, Harley, Duursma, Dev, Kelly/Yeo midfield function? Spread would be pretty horrible.

Thinking of going all in and if both Neale and Cripps are available. Can a Neale, Cripps, Duursma, Harley, Dev, Rivers midfield work? Would take a lot of cap with the Cripps contract and Neale splash to get him to even look at us.

Duursma, Harley have to play in the middle next year. What are the other 2 or 3 players to help that rotation in modern AFL. Neale, Dev? And need a bit of speed and can run both ways for the last spot.

Rivers has to show he’s a midfielder. Last thing we need is another exorbitantly overpriced HBF. Both Port and Dees will match their players in FA and if we have to trade for them it’s a no from me.

Allan would walk into our side, question is price.

KPD ratings after his first game.

The messiah is coming.

I think if we want a contested mid from Carlton Hewett might be the better option. Out of the side atm so might have his head turned.

Also I know the off field stuff is a real concern but we should be looking at Bobby Hill.
