Not so upset more so just frustrated by skill errors and attitude. Not sure where there heads were at tonight, so many mixed efforts and inconsistencies. Just werent on but at least ground away, but a few looked really lethargic and tired. Fear for next week against GC , might be time to refresh with untried newbies.

This is exactly where we thought we'd be? If anything we're clearly over performing. Carr definitely has this team playing better than what we saw last year. They still dont have whats required though and weve known that about our list for several years, let alone what is now a very weak list filled with a lot of local league players.

Its ultimately why losing and securing the highest draft pick possible is so important for us, we need a talent injection.
Totally agree. AFL has changed the rules to try to stop Port getting all the likely players in the near future. But Port really needs some high end talent to add to the list. The only way forward is to get around the rules being set by the AFL to grab these players Port so badly needs. If you look back to other teams that have bottomed out securing the high end talent has jump started their rise up the ladder to challenge for the ultimate prize. Think Geelong or Hawthorn with Father/Son or extra picks while at the bottom. Massive advantage having elite talent.

Way too much emphasis on George here. Hes doing what he can with next to no tall support in the forward line hes pretty much shouldering the whole thing besides durds bobbing up. Second ruck isnt giving him a chop out. Cops the best defender every week and is often getting smashed 2-3 players against. He has always been a 1 goal 1 behind player much of his career the spotlight is more on him because he is our only real viable threat these days. No hiding behind dixon or willie rioli to kick a few.

Yeah Whitlock is coming on here and there but is still getting out bodied and being late to the ball for no fault of his own just needs more time and experience. If you replace George with Lord do you think we get within 50 points of most of these close games? Absolutely not.

Only thing that impressed me tonight was Moraes standing up in the tackle and being able to dish out balls which he wasnt able to in his first season; give these blokes like whitlock berry lai the same time and patience to build and it will pay dividends

Moraes by hand was good. Moraes by foot… not good

Carr has taught them to defend, and stay in the wrestle. It's kept us in every game bar round 1, but when we continually lose with the game on the line and in our grasp with 1-2 minutes to go, there have to be some questions asked.

Why couldn't any of our midfielders, wingmen or flankers get the ball moving our way with one minute to go?

There were repeat stoppages in the last minute and only one team was ever going to score from them.

We only have 2 quality mids and the rest are plodders who can't win a ground ball. That's where they monstered us all night.

Corey Durdin is quickly becoming one of my favourite players. Goes in very hard, flogs through like a cannon ball at times, makes great decisions with the ball, and converts important goals.
Would luv him to get more ball but he's a smart player & generally kicks the goals he should unlike most of our other players.

Dunno about you guys, but not capitulating every time we are challenged or get a few goals down is enough evidence alone that Carr is on the right track. Even I am still trying to break the habit of "here we go again" as soon as we get 3 down.

Defensively he is, we are playing it super safe but at the same time butters is doing his bit to keeping us competitive which we won't have next year so it's early days. The method is right though. Atleast we are watchable til the end even if we're losing.

I’m replacing it with the “here we go again” when the margin is less than a goal with a minute to play. 🤪
